Internet information offices of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government are responsible for the safety assessment of new technologies and applications within their respective administrative areas.
The Regulations propose that service providers should establish and improve the safety assessment management system and guarantee system for new technologies and applications, organize or cooperate with them to carry out safety assessments for new technologies and applications in accordance with the requirements of these regulations, and timely improve and perfect the necessary information security guarantee system measures.
The "Regulations" require that service providers should establish and improve information security management systems and safe and controllable technical support measures when adjusting and adding new technologies and applications, and may not publish or disseminate information content prohibited by laws and regulations.
The "Regulations" emphasize that service providers should promptly rectify new technologies and applications that have potential information security risks and fail to support necessary security measures. Before the rectification is completed, new technologies and applications to be adjusted and added shall not be used to provide Internet news information services.
The relevant person in charge of the National Internet Information Office pointed out that the safety assessment of new technologies and new applications requires the joint participation of government departments, Internet companies, professional institutions and the public, improving social appraisal, credit publicity and other means, and constantly promoting industry self-discipline and public supervision and restraint.
