What is the name and origin of Qianjing, a giant Buddha in Lingshan, Wuxi?

The octagonal well in Lingshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area is located on the east side of Xingtan Square, with an octagonal well pavilion on it. The octagonal pavilion consists of carved Jinyun stone pillars and slates, supported by eight stone pillars engraved with dragons. The pavilion is octagonal at the top and hollow in the middle. It is made of slate, and the image of the Eight Immortals and other flower and bird patterns are engraved in the slate. Eight dragons are carved on the eight roofs of the pavilion, and the faucets face outward in eight directions, which embodies the theory that dragons are hidden in octagonal wells. The word "Octagonal Pavilion" was inscribed by the elder of Mingshan Mountain. On one side of the pavilion, there is a monument engraved with the story of octagonal well, which records the legend of octagonal well. Copy as follows: Bajiaojing, a kind of Longjing, looks like Bajiaojing. It turned out to be the source of delicious kitchen water in the temple, which is unfathomable. The four disciples all said that it is connected with Taihu Lake. Whether it is flood or drought, its water level is like a mirror, which will not overflow or dry up. It is said that Qinglong Jun, the hidden lake god in the well, was willing by the old monk in the temple to punish the evil things of Huanglong in the East China Sea, so he flew out to fight with Huanglong to the death and won a great victory, and lived in the well. The edge of the well has collapsed, and the remains of the past are there. Later generations remembered Long Jun and called it Longjing. There is a saying that whenever I go to a temple, I will take Jing Quan to make tea, which is called Shuanglong Club by the people. After the restoration of Xiangfu Temple was completed, Ms. Weng Lilian, a famous lady from Xiangjiang River, donated RMB180,000 to build the Bajiaojing Pavilion in memory of Zhang Longde and Xerox.

On the southeast side of the octagonal pavilion, there is a gourd-shaped pool called Bailianchi. As the name implies, the white lotus should be in full bloom in the white lotus pond, but due to the vicissitudes of life, the white lotus has quietly disappeared, and the magical tailless snail still thrives here. The so-called tailless snail has the same shape and size as an ordinary snail except that the tail tip looks like a trace cut by scissors and becomes a plane. It is said that snails from other places can't survive here, and tailless snails here can't survive if they move to other places for stocking. This is amazing.

After the restoration of Xiangfu Temple, a monument was erected here as a memorial. Now the inscription of "Bailianchi" is copied as follows: According to legend, the Eight Immortals of Penglai enjoy the moon in Xiangfu Temple and meet in Lianchi Temple every Mid-Autumn Festival. Cool breeze and bright moon, Bai Lianhua field, what a good night! Dong Bin, Lu Xian, boating in Taihu Lake, drinking snail wine and enjoying yourself. One Mid-Autumn Festival night, Lu Xian was as drunk as a fiddler, drifting with the tide, unable to tell things apart. When I met my fair lady, I drove a canoe with a big tail and a small tail to lead the way, and suddenly I burst into tears and begged the fairy to hide. Lu Xian suddenly realized that the female snail was also very good. With a wave of his big sleeve, all the cooked snails were thrown into the white lotus pond and released alive. Since then, they have been drinking and not eating snails. Nobuo! Snails in ponds in An Baili have no tails.

Bing Dai, a monk in the Qing Dynasty, once wrote a poem describing Bailianchi, saying, "The wasteland is pleasant, and the cold vines cut the vines. It is difficult to find tailless snails with heavy lotus roots. The rain is good, and there are many marks on the moon. Take the Berrymos stone and borrow Sally when you have time. "
