What auto parts look simple, but are very difficult to design?

Speaking of automobile design, the first thing that may come to mind is cool styling design. Indeed, in recent years, major car companies have strengthened the design of vehicle modeling.

However, in a perfect automobile development process, it is not enough to rely solely on modeling. The engineering design of each component is the foundation of a real automobile. In this process, the matching of parts is inevitably involved, which is indeed a very painful stage for engineers. So, today, we will take stock of a few parts that look inconspicuous but are very difficult to design.

Wiper is definitely not a necessary consideration for users when buying a car, or even a part of the owner's concern, because in most areas, wiper is only a decoration most of the time. However, in the field of car body, wiper is one of the most difficult parts to design.

Wipers are classified as Class A parts in the design of body parts. What is a Class A part? Simply put, it is a safety component related to vehicle driving safety, and its performance must meet the standard requirements of national mandatory regulations. The national mandatory standards have comprehensively restricted the wiping performance and test methods of wipers. The performance requirements of these mandatory regulations undoubtedly improve the design difficulty of wiper system.

For example, the old national standard stipulated that the wiper must work stably at the speed of1.20km/h. At present, this standard has been raised to1.60km/h. At this speed, it is necessary to ensure that the wiper can closely fit the windshield and the backwater width meets the legal requirements. Only the change of the experimental requirements will make the whole wiper system need to be redesigned.
