If you just want to listen to Peking University's classes, you don't need to report to Yuanpei, because Peking University's classes are very open and you can go to almost all classes (except some small classes). If you want to learn more knowledge, there are enough books and materials in the library, but these are much more than what teachers will learn in class. But if you don't consider it from a realistic point of view and just want to follow your own interests, then you already know where your interests are, so just apply for that major directly.
