The Beijing-Sha Railway starts from Jingmen South Station in Jingmen City, Hubei Province in the north and ends at Yanka Xingang District, a modern wharf in Jingzhou City in the south, with a total length of about 90 kilometers. When the line was first put into operation, there were 8 stations, Shashi South Station was added to 1996, and Jiangling Station was renamed Jingzhou Station. In 2004, Wuli Station was closed, and there were 6 stations in Jingmen South (belonging to Liujiao Line), Tuanlin, Shilipu, Shashi, Jingzhou and Shashi South * * *, which only handled freight business.

The Beijing-Sha Railway is connected with the golden waterway of the Yangtze River, realizing the combined transport of water and rail: coal, steel, wood, chemical fertilizer, pesticides, agricultural and sideline products, especially liquid xylene dangerous goods, are directly transported from Shashi South Station by the railway extension line to the dock, loaded on cargo ships and delivered to the ports in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, which is very convenient.

In 2009, with the announcement of the newly-built Jing (Zhou) Yue (Yang) Railway in Hubei Province, the Jing-Sha Railway will also be expanded and transformed into a national first-class electrified railway. After the completion of the construction, the Beijing (State) Yue (Yang) Railway and the Beijing-Sha Railway will be brought under the unified management of the Beijing (Gate) Yue (Yang) Railway.
