Brief introduction of film
The British film Beauty, which was released on 20 13, was directed by Emma Asante and co-starred by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, matthew goode, tom wilkinson, emily watson and Tom Felton. The film tells the story of Belle, a mixed-race girl adopted by a noble family, who loves and pursues the truth and influences the abolition of slavery in Britain.
The background of the film is 1769, when Britain, as a colonial empire, was the center of the slave trade.
The heroine in the film is Dido Elizabeth Bell Lindsay (played by Gugu Batalau). She is a half-blood girl, the illegitimate daughter of a British navy colonel and a Caribbean slave, and her mother is a black man who died on a Spanish ship. Her father, General Lindsay, brought the mixed-race daughter back to England and her uncle's house, hoping that his uncle would adopt her.
She was brought up by her noble uncle Lord Mansfield (tom wilkinson) and his wife (emily watson) and received a good education. However, her black mixed-race status prevents her from dining at the same table with guests, and her skin color hinders her right to participate in social interaction.
Black identity
Belle's mixed-race status limits her love. There is a meaningful scene in the film where Belle scratches her skin in front of the mirror. She wants to tear off her brown skin. It is because of this color that she was treated unfairly.
Later, Belle inherited a large inheritance from her biological father Lindsay, and she became the goal pursued by upper-class men. However, her cousin Elizabeth, who grew up with her, was teased by the nobles because she didn't inherit property.
In the film, Belle's characterization is successful. She is calm, firm, brave and not afraid of snobbery. She dares to pursue her own love. She helped the priest's son find the key evidence that the owner of the "cargo ship" cheated insurance and threw 132 sick slaves into the sea and drowned.
Two clues
In the film, these two clues cross, one is Belle's growth and love, and the other is her efforts to overthrow slavery. In the end, Bell helped his adoptive father, Lord Chief Justice Mansfield, make the right judgment, thus ending slavery in Britain. At the same time, she also got the love of an idealistic youth, the son of a priest.
Beautiful Bell has elegant style, luxurious manor, exquisite indoor furnishings, noble singing and dancing, gorgeous British fashion, upper-class feasts and luxurious parties. The film has Jane Austen's romantic aestheticism, and at the same time it is a direct attack on human nature.
Historical background
The historical event told in the film Beauty took place in Britain in the18th century. At that time, Britain was a colonial trade center, and the rapid economic development gave birth to the painful and ugly slave trade in human history!
The slave trade, also known as "triangle trade", took place in the 9th century16 ~/kloc-0. Slave traders transported their goods to Africa, where they exchanged them for local blacks and stamped them to prevent them from escaping. They were sold like animals, and then these slaves were transported to coastal areas such as America, sold to local planters, and returned to China with a lot of gold, silver, tobacco, sugar and other goods in the United States.
During the long voyage, blacks were even handcuffed and got extremely limited food and drinking water. Once slaves get sick, they are immediately pushed into the sea.
The film Belle is only exposing the truth of 132 black death. They died of illness and lack of water, and the owner had eight opportunities to add water along the way. However, in order to cheat insurance, the shipowner ignored the life and death of the black people.
At that time, the slave trade was a very important economic source in Britain. This is an indisputable fact in the upper class. Therefore, Mansfield, the British Supreme Justice in the film, is under great pressure from the upper class.
Is it towards justice or against conscience? In the end, Justice Mansfield made a fair ruling, and his ruling became the most crucial step to abolish slavery.
Father's love is like a mountain, solid and reliable.
In the film, Justice Mansfield is not Belle's biological father. When Belle's biological father Lindsay gave him Belle, he was ambivalent and thought it was a shame for the family to adopt a hybrid. But later, with the advancement of the film, the views of the justices gradually changed.
But after he entered his family from Belle, he gave Belle a father's love. At first, my mother questioned whether the reasons for adopting Belle were sufficient. Thought belle's hybrid status would bring shame to our family. But Mansfield said that according to the Reproductive Rights Act, she has the right to live in Kenwood's house.
When Dambert first came to Mansfield's house, her father gave her a portrait to hang at home and introduced her to his family.
At the later family reunion, the audience saw Belle's wonderful piano performance, which showed that she had received a good education at home.
Father wants Belle to marry a man of status to ensure her future life.
At the end of the film, the Justice and Father agreed to Bell's feelings with the pastor's son david nail, and david nail got a place in the court.
In a word, this is a very good movie.
