Amazon abandons "Excellence"

New logo. Old sign. (Reporter Miao Hui) Seven years after the acquisition of Joyo.com, Amazon decided to give up the Joyo brand. Yesterday, Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, announced that its company "Zhuo Yue Amazon" in China was officially renamed "Amazon China" and launched the short domain name z.cn. At the same time, Amazon announced the construction of Kunshan Operation Center, the largest warehousing and logistics center in China's e-commerce field.

"Excellence" becomes history

Yesterday, Wang Hanhua, global vice president of Amazon and president of Amazon China, announced that "Zhuo Yue Amazon" was officially renamed as "Amazon China" and the "Zhuo Yue" LOGO on the company logo was completely replaced by "Amazon". At the same time, the short domain name z.cn is enabled, which will directly point to Amazon. Cn, the official website of Amazon China.

Wang Hanhua said that the new name will not affect the company's business strategy. The name change is not only the recognition of the business philosophy of the parent company Amazon, but also shows Amazon's emphasis on the China market and its determination to make long-term investment. In the future, Amazon's investment in China will only increase rather than decrease. At the same time, Amazon hopes to make it easier for users to visit its website by enabling simplified names and short domain names.

Joyo.com was established in May 2000, initially positioned as an online video store, and soon expanded to books and other fields, becoming a leading e-commerce company in China. In September 2004, Joyo was wholly-owned by Amazon. The name change is Amazon's biggest move in brand building since it wholly acquired Joyo.com seven years ago. At this point, Joyo.com, which has been active in the field of e-commerce in China for more than ten years, will become history.

Yesterday, at the press conference of Amazon's renaming, the reporters and guests present reluctantly bid farewell to "Excellence". In particular, Weibo's "Excellence will live in my heart forever" forwarded by Lei Jun, the outstanding founder, current chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Company. Bless Amazon China! "This also caused everyone's feelings.

Compared with the rapid rise of domestic e-commerce peers such as JD.COM Mall and Taobao Mall, the development of Amazon in Zhuo Yue in recent years can be described as tepid. Amazon China's abandonment of "Excellence" may mean that it will implement strategic adjustment to adapt to the fierce competitive environment and achieve business synergy with Amazon headquarters.

Enable the largest operation center

At the same time of renaming, Amazon China also announced the official launch of its Kunshan operation center yesterday. Located near Shanghai, this operation center is Amazon's largest operation center outside the United States and the largest warehousing and logistics center in the field of e-commerce in China.

Kunshan Operation Center is the first 10 operation center of Amazon in China, covering an area of over120,000 square meters. Together with Suzhou Operation Center, which is also located around Shanghai, Amazon's storage operation area in the Yangtze River Delta has exceeded 6,543,800 square meters, and its storage operation area in China has exceeded 400,000 square meters.

After the opening of Kunshan Operation Center, the service deadline of Amazon China in Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Shaoxing, Jiaxing and Hangzhou can be extended from 10 am to 1 1 am. So far, Amazon China has achieved "one-day delivery" in 16 cities and "next-day delivery" in 53 cities, accounting for about 70% of all orders.

Respond to hot topics of e-commerce

Recently, the domestic e-commerce field has been constantly turbulent. First, the new rules of Taobao Mall triggered protests from small sellers, and then JD.COM Mall and Suning.cn banned search. Talking about the above incidents, Wang Hanhua said yesterday that the Taobao Mall incident had a positive impact on Amazon China; Content grabbing will not be blocked.

In July this year, Amazon China launched the B2C platform "I want to open a shop" which is open to third parties. Wang Hanhua said that the "I want to open a shop" platform is aimed at merchants who have passed the qualification examination at zero cost (no initial fee, no annual fee and no platform use fee) and receive commissions according to a certain proportion of the merchants' income, so there are no problems such as raising the service fee standard. "We don't evaluate the behavior of our competitors, but this incident (Taobao Mall incident) does have a positive impact on us. After the incident, the number of our merchants increased rapidly. "

Regarding the fact that JD.COM Mall and Suning.cn successively blocked Yitao.com's search content, Wang Hanhua said that Amazon China insists on "low prices every day" and is full of confidence in its own commodity prices, and has always advocated consumers to shop around, so Amazon China is not afraid of shopping search and will not follow the example of JD.COM Mall and Suning.cn to block ceramic search.
