In the eyes of English learners all over the world, New Concept English can be described as a "classic" textbook. Nowadays, learning new concept English has become a common practice in China. So what's the difference between this "treasure book"? New Concept English is written by a famous English language education expert, Mr. L.G.Alexander. It is enduring because it can help learners improve their five qualities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation in a short time. Let me help you analyze the benefits and specific learning methods of learning new concept English from these aspects:

Part one, listen.

Everyone can regard New Concept English as a good listening textbook. The supporting tapes of New Concept English are English version and American version. You can choose to buy according to your actual needs. The method of practicing English listening through new concept English can refer to the following steps:

Step 1: Don't read. Dictate the whole text. If you can't hear some words, guess what this word should be. If you can't hear them, you won't be forced. With the increase of dictation, listening will be gradually enhanced. In the process of listening, we can also deepen our understanding of English pronunciation. And practice has proved that if you can understand it at once, the phenomenon of English translation into Chinese in your mind will disappear and your reading comprehension will be greatly improved.

Step 2: Compare the dictation with the original text, find out the mistakes, know where you are wrong, and how to avoid them in the future.

Step 3: Follow the text. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation of each word, try to imitate the tape and try to be close to it.

The second part, vocabulary.

The words learned in the new concept textbook are the most basic and commonly used words, so everyone must master them. For those who don't quite understand the meaning, it's best to look it up and master it with Ying Ying dictionary or double dictionary.

The third part, grammar and reading.

I suggest you do exercises after class, test synchronously, consolidate the learning content and test the learning effect. In particular, every lesson of new concepts has its own core grammar content, which requires students to master this grammar in every lesson. If individual students feel that their grammar and reading level are poor, in order to improve their English strength, it is best to choose some grammar textbooks and English graded reading materials equivalent to their own level for extracurricular study.

The fourth part, writing.

Many people don't know how to improve their writing ability by learning new concepts. Actually, there are laws to follow. Before you come into contact with a new text, don't read its English first, but write it down according to its Chinese translation and then translate it into English, and then compare it with the original text, so that once you compare it, you can find the weaknesses and problems in your writing, correct them in time, and improve it over time. Especially some beautiful essays in the third and fourth volumes provide you with quite good writing methods and classic essays.

The fifth part, reciting.

In the process of learning, reciting some classic texts will be very beneficial to English memory and understanding. Especially for English beginners, reciting texts can deepen their memory of English and form a fixed memory area in their minds, which is a process from quantitative change to qualitative change. Many classic sentence patterns, grammar and vocabulary can be effectively retained in the hearts of the reciter by reciting the text, so that students' reading, grammar and writing can be improved at the same time.

To learn English well, a set of scientific learning methods is essential. Due to different personal circumstances, mechanical application is not feasible. But I believe that everyone can create a set of distinctive and effective learning methods as long as they carefully experience and gradually explore. Here, I want to share with you some experiences in learning English for your reference. Although I had a good English foundation in middle school, I still deeply felt my own gap when I first entered the university. To have certain listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, you must first master 5000 to 8000 words. As a high school graduate, my vocabulary was really poor. So, I decided to expand my vocabulary quickly as the main breakthrough. Some students like to recite manuals with large vocabulary, which I find boring and not conducive to flexible use. So I focus on reading, vocabulary and reading go hand in hand, get twice the result with half the effort. In order to expand my vocabulary quickly, I chose some reading materials that were difficult for us at that time from the beginning. There are generally twenty or thirty new words in thousands of words. These articles cover a wide range, including vocabulary in many fields.

I usually adopt the "two-reading method", that is, the first time focuses on training reading ability, and the second time focuses on expanding vocabulary and cultivating language sense. When I started reading training, I referred to the book Active Readers. First, improve reading speed. Concentrate on reading an article of moderate length, write down the starting and ending time, and calculate the reading amount per unit time. It has become my habit to force myself to read quickly. In the first reading process, I focused on training speed, mastering the general idea and basic structure of the article, and finding out problems so as to solve them in further reading. There are two key points in the second reading: first, expand vocabulary. The specific way is: read the article again, look up the new words, write them down in a notebook and take them out when you have time. I never recite words all the time. When learning other content is inefficient, it is best for me to recite words. It doesn't take long to recite each time, but it is repeated many times. I used an English-Chinese dictionary at that time because I didn't think English explanations were easy to remember. In the initial stage of expanding vocabulary, it is most important to understand the meaning of words. In this way, with the increase of reading and the broadening of my scope, my vocabulary has also advanced by leaps and bounds. Later, when preparing for TOEFL, GRE and other exams, I began to recite vocabulary manuals and explain them in English to understand the exact meaning of words and the language environment I used.

The second focus of the second reading is to cultivate a sense of language. Carefully appreciate the wonderful language and pay attention to the use and collocation of words. I often read aloud or even recite some paragraphs. Doing so is conducive to strengthening the sense of language; Lay the foundation for writing. Through this method of second reading, what I read is generally very impressive in my mind, and it also improves the utilization rate of reading materials. I attach great importance to the choice of reading materials. Not just from the interest, on the contrary, consciously read some articles about popular science, history, philosophy and so on that you don't know much about or even are not interested in. In addition, for different training purposes, I also selected reading materials with different content difficulties. For example, when reading quickly, you can choose articles with small vocabulary and short length; English and American newspapers and magazines should be selected for reading training focusing on enlarging vocabulary and broadening horizons. In addition, I also pay attention to step by step, and choose the corresponding reading materials according to the changes of my English level at different stages. In listening, speaking, reading and writing, I have benefited a lot from reading. Through conscious reading, on the one hand, we can expand our vocabulary, on the other hand, we can cultivate our sense of language. And I think these two aspects are the two pillars of mastering a language. As for listening, speaking and writing, I have not received special training. Read more books, have a large vocabulary and a strong sense of language. As long as you practice more, your ability in these three aspects will naturally improve.

Wish you success! ! ! !
