How to export lamps to Saudi Arabia now, SASO certification of lamps?

From now on, all LED light source products exported to Saudi Arabia need to provide energy efficiency test and IECEE certification.

I. Product range

Including: directional and non-directional bulbs used for ordinary household or similar purposes in Saudi Arabia, mainly including ordinary incandescent bulbs, self-ballasted fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps), self-ballasted LED bulbs and halogen bulbs powered by AC or DC.

Does not include: lamps, lamp controllers, non-ordinary lighting bulbs (such as signal lamps, infrared heating lamps, lamps in other household appliances, and special purpose bulbs for other professional purposes).

Two. Excerpts from standard requirements

1. The standard clearly states that product descriptions and warnings must be available in English and Arabic;

2. For special-purpose bulbs, the intended use of the product must be clearly stated in the packaging and other materials provided, and the product is not suitable for ordinary household lighting;

3. For ordinary household or similar light bulbs, this standard mainly evaluates:

(1) bulb energy efficiency grade: it is mainly divided into seven grades: A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

(2) Performance requirements of bulbs: such as life, lumen maintenance, switching period, starting time, color rendering index, power factor, etc.

(3) The following information must be displayed on the bulb: trademark, input voltage, rated power and country of origin. The above information must be clearly marked on labels, packages, instructions and websites in English and/or Arabic.

(4) Assessment requirements for harmful substances contained in light bulbs: including lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and mercury.

(5) Requirements for the energy efficiency label of light bulbs: The label must be on the package, which can be clearly seen by consumers.

Daily necessities and products exported to Saudi Arabia countries need to pass SASO certification. SASO refers to the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, which is responsible for formulating the national standards for all daily necessities and products, and also designing the measurement systems and labels in the standards.

Many SASO standards are based on the safety standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission and other national organizations. At the same time, Saudi Arabia has its own standards for unique projects such as civil and industrial voltage, geography, climate and environment, ethnic and religious habits. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Industry and Commerce and SASO require all products that meet SASO certification standards to have SASO certification when entering Saudi customs. Otherwise, the products will be refused entry by Saudi port customs. It is considered that "SASO 2870:20 15- Requirements for Energy Efficiency, Function and Labeling of Lighting Products" mentioned above is a supplement to SASO certification, and enterprises exporting products to Saudi Arabia should pay special attention to it.
