Elijah Cummings, Vice Chairman of the Oversight Committee of the US House of Representatives, and Eliot Engel, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, wrote to ask the executives of three American companies and Flynn's business partners to provide further information about his trip to the Middle East on 20 15, and sent relevant letters to Miller.
Cummings and Engel said in a letter dated 12 that after the United States revealed that Flynn had gone to the Middle East in June this year to be a lobbyist for American companies, Russian Atomic Energy Corporation and Saudi Arabia to invest10 billion dollars to build nuclear power plants, they asked the three American companies to provide relevant information. Since then, executives of the three companies have written back to confirm Flynn's trip to the Middle East.
Cummings and Engel claimed that Flynn did not report his trip to the Middle East or any contact with foreign government officials and foreign business partners when he updated the security review on 20 16, which was suspected of violating federal law. Since this may lead to up to five years' imprisonment, they also provided Miller with relevant responses from executives of three companies.
While asking the three American companies to provide further information, Cummings and Engel also asked them to confirm whether Flynn would continue to communicate with relevant personnel on the above-mentioned nuclear power projects after the US presidential election, after Trump was sworn in, and after Flynn became the national security assistant of the president.
Robert Cerna, Flynn's lawyer, reportedly declined to comment. Cummings and Engel said that in June this year, Flynn's lawyer refused to provide relevant documents or explanations on this matter, but they did not deny that Flynn did not report his trip to the Middle East and contact with foreign personnel when he updated the security review on 20 16.
According to the reply Cummings and Engel got from ACU executives, Flynn's trip to the Middle East was paid by the company, but Flynn didn't cash another check for $25,000 written by ACU.
In February of this year, Flynn, assistant to the president for national security affairs, who took office less than a month ago, was forced to resign because he concealed the conversation with the Russian ambassador to the United States. Since then, he was exposed by the media and went to Russia to participate in TV celebrations at the end of 20 15, and was paid by the Russian side. He is also sitting at the same table as Putin. In addition, Flynn also worked as a lobbyist for the Turkish government, and his salary was as high as $500,000.
The intelligence committees of the US Senate and House of Representatives have asked Flynn and his consulting company to provide relevant documents. Flynn first rejected it by citing the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, but finally provided documents to the relevant committees. It is reported that Special Prosecutor Miller has investigated Flynn's relationship with Russia, talked with the Russian ambassador to the United States and lobbied for the Turkish government.
