How difficult is it to become a psychological counselor? You must go through three difficulties.

Hello, my friend, I'm Wei, an emotional management consultant.

Familiar with the psychological counselor industry and psychological counselor groups.

As early as college, my major was applied psychology. 20 1 1 worked as an intern in a psychological counseling institution for three months, and began to join the psychological counseling community on 20 15. On July 20 17, I went to a city to study a psychological counseling technique for 1 week. From April 2065438 to April 2008, my friends and I did a family education and training program, which was regarded as returning to the mental health industry.

Generally speaking, I have always liked psychology and had direct contact with psychological counselors. It can be said that I am familiar with the group of psychological counselors.

As far as I know, the people who enter psychological counseling are mainly doctors, nurses and teachers, as well as police and judicial personnel. These people apply to study as national psychological counselors because of the needs of their work, or the requirements of the competent units, and because they have seen the future development trend of psychological counseling.

In addition to this part of the staff, there are many people who are very confused and participate in psychological counseling for the purpose of self-help. No matter what the source, the vast majority of people have not entered the consulting practice after completing their studies and obtaining certificates.

It is actually very common for a person to have a psychological counselor qualification certificate but not to carry out consulting business. A beginner needs to cross several barriers from getting a certificate to being able to consult for fees. Every level may block your way to the role of a real psychological counselor.

The first level is basic knowledge.

Before the national psychological counselor training exam, many people went through the motions. Some areas have higher requirements for training hours and exam difficulty. However, because most of the training is just a formality, and the teaching materials and training contents cover a wide range and have no focus, the students of psychological counseling are still not confident in their professional knowledge.

On the one hand, the vast majority of psychological counselors who have obtained qualification certificates are generally modest professionally. These people are really guilty, not modest. On the other hand, people who really want to engage in psychological counseling need to invest time and money and continue to learn various practical skills.

This level is relatively good, and the professional knowledge is not solid. If you invest more time in study, you can always bring it with you.

The second obstacle is personal growth.

As everyone in the industry knows, people engaged in psychological counseling need to accept personal experience for a certain period of time. To put it bluntly, if you want to be a psychological counselor, you need to receive a certain amount of psychological counseling. According to my personal experience, half of the people who have the qualification certificate of psychological counseling I have contacted have never received psychological counseling. This situation actually shocked me. I always look for opportunities to ask this question.

Another point is that the personal experience of psychological counselors in the learning process is still different from that of general psychological counseling. Personal experience for personal growth needs more complexity and higher participation.

For those who really want to engage in psychological counseling, this level is also easy to break through. It's just a matter of time and money. The difficulty lies in finding a congenial counselor. Finding a consultant who matches each other also needs fate.

The third level, psychological counseling skills training and supervision.

Psychological counseling is essentially a craft, and practice makes perfect. Every expert psychological counselor starts as an assistant counselor, receives initial consultation, gradually transitions to psychological consultation with the support of the supervisor, and finally truly undertakes case consultation independently.

In this process, there are mainly two aspects of support. First, there are stable practice places and stable customers, so that novices can practice their mobile phones. On the other hand, there is stable supervision and support to respond to the specific problems encountered by novice psychological counselors in training in time.

This level is very important and difficult to obtain. In reality, there are few cases in psychological counseling institutions at present. Mature psychological counselors in institutions lack cases and need to expand their business through various channels. In this case, there is no way to provide more training and internship opportunities for novices. Also, it is difficult to find a suitable supervisor, which is even rarer than a psychological counselor.

Therefore, the above three levels can be successfully passed, and you can really have enough professional confidence to face visitors. This is also the reason why many friends who have obtained the national psychological counselor qualification certificate have not entered the consulting practice.

This situation cannot be changed by one person.

I once wrote an article analyzing that if an organization can undertake three functions, it has the potential to develop into a platform. See three. Development trend of mental health industry 1 20 19 details.

Do you feel powerless when you see this place? There is nothing we can do about this difficulty?

I am currently participating in a training system called "Emotional Management Consultant". This training program focuses on the vertical segmentation of emotional management. This kind of training system can make students have the ability and confidence to conduct one-on-one consultation independently after training for at least 2 months.
