What are axial flow fans and centrifugal fans? What is the difference?

Axial flow fan and centrifugal fan are two different products in the category of fans, and their main functions are also to ventilate the air in the environment.

Difference between axial flow fan and centrifugal fan

First, the exhaust direction is different:

The exhaust direction of axial fan is straight along the axis, the air inlet and air outlet of the fan are parallel to the axis, and the exhaust direction of centrifugal fan is perpendicular to the air inlet, which can realize 360-degree exhaust in the specified direction.

Second, the difficulty of installation is different:

The installation of axial flow fan is relatively simple, usually directly installed on the wall or connected to the air duct. The installation of centrifugal fan is complicated.

Third, the difference between air volume and wind pressure:

The air volume and wind pressure of axial fan are relatively small, and there is basically no wind pressure, while the air volume and wind pressure of centrifugal fan are relatively large. If there are many elbows in the pipeline, the exhaust distance and air supply distance are relatively long, and the pipeline resistance is large, centrifugal fans must be used.

Fourth, the appearance and shape are different:

The axial flow fan is basically cylindrical, and the centrifugal fan is volute.

Fifth, the fan motor is connected in different ways:

The motor connection of axial fan is generally in the fan body, and the motor of centrifugal fan is connected by shaft, generally outside the exhaust duct of the fan.
