Shandong University, referred to as Shanda for short, is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC) and a vice-ministerial university directly managed by the central government. The school covers a total area of more than 8000 mu (including about 3000 mu in Qingdao campus), forming a school-running pattern of eight campuses in one school and three places (Jinan, Qingdao and Weihai). By the end of 20 13, there were 60,000 full-time students, including 4 1437 full-time undergraduates, 6034 graduate students and 737 international students.

Shandong Normal University, referred to as "Mountain Normal University", is a provincial key university in Shandong Province.
At present, there are 25 colleges, 82 undergraduate majors, 9 post-doctoral research stations, 10 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 76 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees in two disciplines, 29 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees and 165 master's degrees authorized by two disciplines. The school has more than 35,000 full-time students, including more than 4,900 graduate students. Shanshi University is a "comprehensive and well-known research and teaching university in China".
