Hummingbird is the smallest bird in the world and the smallest warm-blooded animal.
Hummingbirds have bright colors and are often included in Hummingbirds or Hummingbirds with Swifts. Distribution is limited to the western hemisphere, and there are many species in South America. About 12 species are often found in the United States and Canada, and only in Nova Scotia to Florida in eastern North America is Archilochus colubris. The northernmost species is Sargassum, which breeds from southeastern Alaska to northern California. Hummingbirds are all small birds, some of which are very small. Patagona gigas, the largest hummingbird in western South America, is only 20 centimeters (8 inches) long and weighs about 20 grams (0.67 ounces). Mellisuga helenae and Xiaocui Hummingbird are the smallest two hummingbirds, which are distributed in Cuba and Pine Island. They are slightly longer than 5.5 cm (2. 12 inch) and weigh about 2 grams. Together with shrews, they are the smallest warm-blooded vertebrates.
