Maoming City is located in the South China Sea coast, in the southwest of Guangdong Province, with its back to the southwest of China. On May 1, 1958, 12, Maoming Preparatory Office was established. On may 23 of the same year, it was changed to the urban preparation office of Maoming industrial and mining area. Later, all satellite communes and most rocket communes in Maoming County (Cash Hall, Mansion, Xinpo, Gaoshan, Zhensheng, Aotou and Meihua) merged one after another.
