A preliminary study on the connection of Futian's "5+4" model to alleviate the degree tension

A few days ago, the Futian District Education Bureau launched a new initiative to explore a new model of "5+4" and "junior high school", that is, students in the sixth grade of primary school went to the corresponding junior high school in advance, forming "five years in primary school and four years in junior high school", which not only eased the shortage of primary school degrees, but also promoted the seamless connection between primary school and junior high school. At present, some schools in Shenzhen try out the "5+4" model, especially in nine-year compulsory education schools, which has aroused widespread concern in society. Some experts pointed out that both "6+3" and "5+4" are just a form. Promoting the seamless connection between primary school and junior high school is a systematic project, which affects the whole body, and the related teaching management and curriculum reform should also keep up, not only focusing on form but not connotation.

Some schools in Shenzhen have begun to explore the "5+4" model.

It is understood that the "5+4" model is not the first in Shenzhen. Beijing, Shanghai, Hubei and other provinces and cities have implemented the "5+4" model reform very early, which is different from Futian District in alleviating the tension in primary schools. Its original intention is to explore a more effective connection between junior high school and junior high school. As early as 2004, Shanghai fully implemented the "5+4" model in the compulsory education stage, which aroused strong social repercussions.

Xiang Qiao Foreign Language School in Futian District is a nine-year compulsory education school, and is exploring the hand-in-hand teaching mode in junior high school. Nie Junqing, the principal, said that many parents are now faced with such a difficult problem: their children have achieved good grades in primary school, but after entering junior high school, their grades are very poor. One of the reasons is that I can't adapt to the sudden increase in my studies. If you can get to know junior high school life in advance in the sixth grade and prepare yourself psychologically, it will be twice the result with half the effort for students and parents. At present, the sixth grade of Xiang Qiao Foreign Languages School has begun to integrate the primary and junior high school courses, which are taught by teachers of primary and junior high schools, giving full play to the role of the sixth grade as a link between the preceding and the following, laying a good foundation for the junior high school courses. It is understood that overseas Chinese will further promote the hand-in-hand model in junior high school next year, and all sixth-grade students and teachers will be included in junior high school management from the aspects of teaching, schedule and so on.

Compared with Xiang Qiao Foreign Language School in Futian District, Pingshan Experimental School has been trying out the "5+4" model for more than two years, and it was implemented as early as September 20 13. "The first batch of students are now in the ninth grade at school, and their comprehensive literacy is obviously better than that of students who have not experienced this reform." Wang Junjian, president of Pingshan Experimental School, told the reporter that the school managed the sixth grade teaching, teachers and courses in junior high school, and integrated the sixth to ninth grade courses. Part of the first grade courses were placed in the sixth grade, and part of the sixth grade courses were moved to junior high school. President Wang believes that the "5+4" model is particularly suitable for developed cities, and children's physical, psychological and cognitive abilities are ahead of those in remote mountainous areas. Bringing children in grade 6 into junior high school management and synchronizing with junior high school students is conducive to the transition of children's thinking mode from image thinking to logical thinking and better adapting to junior high school life.

Nine-year compulsory education is conducive to the development of the "5+4" model.

"The key to the' 5+4' model is to make a good connection between primary school and junior high school. Nine-year compulsory schools have natural advantages. " Yu Ming, a special expert from the Center for the Development of Basic Education Curriculum and Textbooks of the Ministry of Education and a Shenzhen inspector, believes that this advantage has not been fully exerted in Shenzhen, and the core of the nine-year consistent system is "consistency". Because of the different enrollment areas, the sixth-grade students in these schools do not go directly to the seventh grade.

Sui Wendi, a national primary and secondary school supervision and evaluation expert and Shenzhen inspector, also believes that these schools are not determined enough because of "consistency" in the process of promoting the connection between primary schools and junior high schools. The "5+4" model is actually to advance some courses and extend other courses at the same time, so that the large span between primary school and junior high school can give children sufficient adaptation time. But if the sixth and seventh grades of the school are not the same group of students, where can this connection start?

Fortunately, Futian District has implemented the policy of direct graduation from primary schools in six nine-year compulsory education schools, including Xiang Qiao Foreign Language School, Shi Xia School, Huangpu School, Caitian School, Hanlin School and Nanhua School. Xiang Qiao Foreign Language School in Futian District began to explore the "5+4" model of the connection between primary school and junior high school after the direct connection between primary school and junior high school was implemented in Futian District.

"5+4" mode means that the courses and management of systems engineering should keep up.

Xiao Xiong, a citizen who experienced the "5+4" model reform, went to primary school and junior high school in Shiyan City, Hubei Province. "At that time, some schools in Shiyan City were also exploring the' 5+4' model. Five years after I finished primary school, I went to another school to attend junior high school. " Xiao Xiong said that the first year of junior high school is particularly uncomfortable, because the relevant supporting facilities have not kept up, and the teaching materials are hard to find. Because junior high school has an extra year, the whole fourth grade is reviewing for the exam.

Therefore, in Yu Ming's view, the "5+4" model is not a simple shortening of primary school time, but a systematic project, which should be studied from the aspects of classroom expansion, textbook curriculum reform and teacher training. Emperor Wendi of Sui also believes that the implementation of the "5+4" model, related teaching research should keep up, so as to better help students change from children to teenagers.

"The' 5+4' model cannot only focus on form, nor can it simply be used as a means to vacate primary school degrees. This is not enough. " Wang Jun Jian said that Shenzhen might as well take this opportunity to better connect primary schools and junior high schools from the perspective of students' healthy physical and mental development, so as to provide children with higher quality compulsory education.
