Shaanxi Railway Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a provincial-level public institution of higher learning in Shaanxi Province, which was founded in 1973 and formerly known as Weinan Railway Engineering School of the Ministry of Railways. In 2002, it was placed under the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government by the Ministry of Railways. In 2003, with the approval of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Education put it on record. It was reorganized and upgraded to a college-level higher vocational and technical college, which was managed by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education. It is the only higher vocational college of railway engineering in northwest China.
The school is located in Weinan city, which is the main road of Sanqin and the thoroughfare of eight provinces. It has two campuses in Lin Wei and Gaoxin, covering an area of 1052 mu, with more than 3000 students of all kinds, more than 300 faculty members with bachelor degree or above, including 73 doctors and master students/kloc-0, and 66 professors and associate professors. There are eight professional teaching departments named after engineering, such as railway, road and bridge, architecture, track, management, surveying and mapping, and electromechanical, and 33 higher vocational majors, involving railway, highway, architecture, electronics, machinery and other fields.
