brief introduction

Chengmen Tunnel consists of two groups of two-way double-line separated double-tube tunnels, namely Muzhijing Tunnel and Zhenshan Tunnel. The tunnel was started in February 1987 1 1, and the cost exceeded 1 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 654.38+28 million US dollars). The tunnel was opened to traffic on April 20th. 1990. The tunnel consists of two pipes, each with two lanes. In 2007, the average daily traffic volume of Shing Mun Tunnel reached 53,800, and the toll was HK$ 5, making it the cheapest toll tunnel between Sha Tin and the urban area.

Transfer station

Chengmen Tunnel became the first toll road tunnel with a large bus interchange station, which was opened on May 26th. 199 1. At that time, KMB will reorganize the bus routes passing through the Shing Mun Tunnel and provide free or preferential interchange services. Because the Chengmen Tunnel interchange itself is in a closed environment, ordinary pedestrians can't walk in and out of the interchange directly. Passengers must change to another bus line after getting off at Shing Mun Tunnel Interchange, so it becomes the only bus interchange where they can change without using Octopus.
