The origin of Huizhou

As early as the Stone Age, there were already human activities in Huizhou. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Huizhou culture developed to a certain extent and was closely related to the Central Plains culture. Huizhou has been a "major town in eastern Guangdong" since the Sui and Yong Dynasties. During the Tang Dynasty, there were only two states in eastern Guangdong, Chaozhou and Zhou Xun. In the first year of Ganheng in the Five Dynasties, this place was ruled by Zhou Zhen. In the fourth year of Tianxi in Song Zhenzong, in order to avoid the prince, Huizhou was changed to "Hui", and the name of Huizhou is still in use today.
