Can a wife buy a car with her husband's old license plate?

Legal analysis: the husband's old license plate cannot be used for the new car bought by his wife, and his license plate can only be used for the registration of his own car. That is, the license plate of the wife's car husband needs to be registered as the husband's name when registering.

Legal basis: Article 52 of the Regulations on Motor Vehicle Registration states that after the motor vehicle registration is transferred or cancelled, the original motor vehicle owner can apply to the vehicle management office to use the original motor vehicle license plate number when applying for the registration of a newly purchased motor vehicle. The application for using the original motor vehicle license plate number shall meet the following conditions:

(a) to apply within six months after the transfer registration or cancellation of registration;

(two) the owner of the motor vehicle has owned the original motor vehicle for more than three years;

(3) The road traffic safety violations and traffic accidents involving the original motor vehicles have been dealt with.
