IMAX theater refers to a place or theater that specially shows IMAX movies. As of June 30th, 2002 1, IMAX has 1, 654 cinemas (commercial comprehensive project1,569 cinemas, tourist attractions 12 commercial cinemas and 73 cinemas in science and education venues) in 85 countries and regions around the world.
IMAX was invented by three Canadians: Graeme Ferguson, Roman Kroitor and Robert Kerr. 1967 World Expo held in Montreal, there were many technical problems in their multi-projector large-screen projection system, which prompted them to design a new system with single projector and single camera.
The first IMAX movie was shown at the World Expo held in Osaka, Japan in 1970, and the long-term IMAX system was installed in Toronto in 197 1 year.
1974 At the World Expo held in Spokane, Washington, USA, the USA Pavilion exhibited a giant IMAX screen of 27.3x19.7m. When the audience looked straight ahead, the screen was enough to fill the whole field of vision. * * * has been watched by 5 million people, most of whom think it shows a strong sense of movement, and a few even get seasick. This screen has only been on display for six months. A few years later, the IMAX cinema in Binhe Park installed a standard-sized IMAX screen, which has been in use ever since.
The first IMAX theater with hemispherical screen opened on 1973 at Ruben H. Fleet Space Theater and Science Center in balboa Park, San Diego, California, USA.
