"Three Zhang" refers to the poet Zhang Zai and his brother Zhang Xie and Zhang Kang;

"Erlu" refers to the writer Lu Ji and his brother Lu Yun;

"Pan Er" refers to writer Pan Yue and nephew Penny;

"One Left" refers to the poet's left-leaning thinking. ?

These are eight poets and writers in Taikang period of Western Jin Dynasty, representing the highest achievement of Taikang literature.

Taikang was a prosperous period of literature in the Western Jin Dynasty. At this time, the situation is stable, and scholars have time and energy to spend on literary creation and research. Because of the well-off society, literati are used to singing praises, so the formalism style is becoming more and more serious.

Pursuing the gorgeous form of literary works, the creative achievements are not too high, and the literati consciously pursue the artistic expression of the works. Therefore, the literary tide in this period tends to be flashy, poetry is still carved, literature is respected, and beautiful words become the universal characteristics of poetry. The writers who represent this mainstream style should be the first to publicize Pan Yue and Lu Ji.

The main characteristics of Taikang's poetry style

1, antique

Imitation of the book of songs, imitation of Han Yuefu and imitation of ancient poems became the trend at that time. Lu Ji's Eight Farewells to Feng Wenpi's Qiu Ling Temple, Ten Farewells to Poems on the Clouds with Brother Qinghe, Pan Yue's Sixteen Farewells to Guanzhong Poems and Five Farewells to Wang Shiyou Poems are all four-character masterpieces. These poems draw lessons from the Book of Songs, but the words tend to be gorgeous.

In the harmony poems in Yuefu Poetry Collection, most of the tunes have Lu Ji's sketches. Among them, Lu Ji's other Yuefu poems often become samples of Yuefu poems with the same theme in later generations.

Twelve of Lu Ji's Imitation of Ancient Poems are basically imitations of Nineteen Ancient Poems. They all follow the original title in content, become simple and elegant in style, show a tendency of literati in poetry, and the overall level is not as good as the original. However, Lu Ji can sometimes imitate it vividly, and some places have other characteristics, which is already commendable. Therefore, Zhong Rong's "Preface to Poetry" also listed Lu Ji's antique as a "five-word warning strategy".

2. Pursuing the progress of formal skills, showing a complex poetic style.

Compared with the ancient poems of Han and Wei Dynasties, Taikang's poetic style shows the characteristics of "complexity" in the following aspects:

(1) Language is changing from simple and archaic to gorgeous and gorgeous;

(2) Description turns from simple to complex;

(3) The sentence pattern changes from scattered lines to parallel pairs;

Judging from the law of literary development, it is an inevitable trend to change from simplicity to complexity. Lu and Pan developed Cao Zhi's aspect of "adopting Hua Mao", contributed to the development of China's poems, and promoted the development of landscape poems in the Southern Dynasties and the maturity of rhythm and antithesis skills.
