The first direct optical cable across the Taiwan Straits was led by China Telecom and jointly built by telecom operators across the Taiwan Straits. * * * consists of two 24-core submarine optical cables, from Guanyin Mountain in Xiamen to Cihu Lake in Jinmen, Dayan Island in Xiamen to Guningtou in Jinmen, and then connected to Taiwan Province Island.
The design capacity of the system is 100 times of the cross-strait communication capacity, which makes cross-strait information communication become a reality through the "high-speed channel" and ends the history that cross-strait communication services must be carried on optical cables jointly built by many countries and regions.
The completion of the first cross-strait direct optical cable has realized the long-cherished wish of the people on both sides of the strait, which is of great significance in the history of cross-strait communication development, and will also have a positive impact on expanding economic and cultural exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan and promoting the development of cross-strait relations.
