However, Master Hui Yuan believed in Buddhism and did not eat wine and meat. It can be seen that it is not easy for Tao Yuanming to make friends with Master Hui Yuan. According to historical records, Master Hui Yuan and Liu Yimin and others formed an association in Lushan Mountain, which was later called "White Lotus Society".
At that time, Master Hui Yuan sincerely invited Tao Yuanming to join the "White Lotus Society". At that time, Tao Yuanming suggested that he would join the "White Lotus Sect" as long as he could get him to drink. Master Hui Yuan valued Tao Yuanming's spirit of being born and broad-minded, put down his figure, and promised that Tao Yuanming did not need to observe Buddhist abstinence.
