Procedures required to apply for a passport:

1. After completing the Exit Application Form for Citizens of China as required, it shall be sealed by the personnel and security department of the unit;

2. Issue a letter of introduction for an individual to apply for going abroad. The letter of introduction should be written in the exit-entry administration department of the local public security organ with agreed contents;

3. Take a good passport photo, generally a two-inch black-and-white or color bareheaded front photo in the past three months and paste it on the application form for China citizens to leave the country as required;

4. Prepare a copy of the invitation letter, guarantee letter, admission notice and other relevant documents and materials for going abroad;

5. Prepare my household registration book, ID card, work permit or other household registration certificate, or student ID card, unemployment certificate, retirement certificate, resignation certificate and professional title certificate;

6. Submit the completed China Citizen Exit Application Form, foreign invitation letter, letter of guarantee, company introduction letter, household registration book, work permit, student ID card or unemployment certificate, retirement certificate, ID card and my photo to the exit and entry administration department of the public relations organ;

7. When waiting for your passport, be sure to remember my application number when submitting the form for inquiry;

8. When accepting my passport application materials, the public security organ must go through the process of examination and passport making. Applicants can wait patiently within the specified time, and can go to collect their passports and exit registration cards at the time agreed when submitting the materials or after receiving the notice from the public security organs.
