Development of Changsha School for the Blind and Deaf

In the new century, Changsha School for the Blind and Deaf has developed into a comprehensive special education school integrating language rehabilitation training for deaf children, nine-year compulsory education and secondary vocational and technical education. The school has 36 classes and 409 students. School staff 1 12. College degree or above accounts for 95% of the total number of teachers, and senior titles account for 63% of the total number of teachers, including 9 national, provincial and municipal backbone teachers. Dance art for deaf-mute students, Chinese medicine massage for blind students, western bands and practical teaching of intellectual development have formed distinctive features of our school. Wings carry dreams, and art interprets life-the injured young wings are eager to fly freely in the country of art and the sky of love. Changsha Disabled Students' Art Troupe "Dream of Spreading Wings" was formally established on May 6th, 2005.

The Ministry of Education, provincial and municipal leaders and special education experts visited our school many times and fully affirmed our achievements. The interview group of "Three Xiangxing Tour of Quality Education", composed of eleven media including CCTV, People's Daily, China Education News and Hunan TV Station, gave a comprehensive report on the running of our school. The school has also received more than 40 educational groups from the United States, Germany, Canada and other countries 10, as well as from 6 provinces in China10.
