West-to-East Gas Pipeline Planning

The Third West-to-East Gas Pipeline is a strategic energy transportation artery, which spans China's frontier, inland and coastal provinces (regions). Starting construction of this major project will enable hundreds of millions of people along the route to use clean and reliable natural gas, promote energy structure optimization, energy conservation and emission reduction, and promote coordinated regional development. It will also promote equipment, materials and other related industries, expand domestic demand, and support and stimulate economic and social development.

The third line of west-to-east gas transmission project passes through Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces (regions), with a total length of about 7378 kilometers and a designed annual gas transmission capacity of 30 billion cubic meters.

The implementation of the Third West-to-East Gas Pipeline Project will further enhance the natural gas supply capacity and increase the proportion of natural gas in the primary energy consumption structure of China by 1 to 2 percentage points. After the project is completed, the annual emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, dust and nitrogen oxides can be reduced by 6,543,800 tons, 6,543,800 tons, 660,000 tons and 360,000 tons respectively.

The total investment of the Third West-East Gas Pipeline Project exceeds120 billion yuan. At the same time, domestic equipment and materials are given priority in project construction. As a supporting project for the localization of key equipment of long-distance pipelines such as high-power compressors and large-diameter valves, it will promote the development of China's iron and steel, equipment, machinery, electronics, metallurgy and other related industries and play an important role in steady growth and structural adjustment. The construction of the West Third Line Project will promote the independent innovation of key equipment such as large compressor sets and valves, and promote the development of upstream and downstream industries and structural upgrading.
