Standing at the threshold of the new year, looking back on the fleeting year of 2008, sadness and emotion, joy and pride, passion and dreams converge. This is a year full of great sadness and joy, a year full of countless touches and endless pain, and a year that left too many shocking and unforgettable memories.
The history of ice and snow disasters in South China is rare; Wenchuan M8 earthquake, the mountains and rivers were instantly unrecognizable; The Olympic Games opened beautifully in Beijing, realizing the century-old dream of the people of China. God seven flying, continue to write the legend of China; After 30 years of reform and opening up, we have made great achievements. The shocking moment is the tears and joy brought to us in 2008, which makes us sad and urges us to forge ahead.
The extraordinary year of 2008 is coming to an end. When we look back at the words and images that have touched us, we are most concerned about the faces that have touched you and me and the things that have touched us: General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, president and Hu Jintao, chairman of the Central Military Commission, visited Hainan in person, giving Hainan a new mission as the vanguard of national reform and opening up; After the Wenchuan earthquake, six reporters of our newspaper rushed to the disaster area and sent back more than 200,000 written articles and thousands of news pictures. A cement pole in the main street of Jinshan Town, Wenchang was smashed into two pieces and left unattended 10 day. Local residents have no choice but to post searching for you on cement poles. After this incident was reported in the newspaper, a competent leader of the relevant department resigned. ...
The fireworks in 2008 have fallen, and the neon in 2009 has lit up. The pain and emotion I experienced, the pride and struggle I had, were left until yesterday. Today's review is to prepare for a better struggle tomorrow.
In 2008, we recorded countless people and countless things with words and images. Those people and things remind us of 2008. At the beginning of 2009, let's think back to 2008, those people and those things. Then, move forward hand in hand.
"Power in 2008"
Some things make people passionate.
Happy event, Hainan is full of youth.
□ Reporter Luo Shirong
2008 is an unusual year and a memorable year. This year, China entered the year of reform and opening up! Hainan, a vibrant young province, also celebrated her 20th birthday.
The annual meeting of Boao Forum for Asia, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of provincial special economic zones, and opening the domestic relay of the Olympic flame ... In 2008, there were many happy events in Hainan, and a series of major events were staged one after another. In 2008, Hainan was dazzling and attracted worldwide attention!
From April 7 to 9, 2008, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, president and Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the 2008 annual meeting of Boao Forum for Asia. Hu Jintao came to Haikou, Yangpu, Dongfang, Ledong, Sanya and other places, went deep into villages and enterprises, conducted investigations and studies on thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and discussed with cadres and the masses of all ethnic groups the reform and development plan. During the inspection, General Secretary Hu Jintao entrusted Hainan with a new mission of being the vanguard of national reform and opening up, which pointed out the direction for Hainan's next development.
From April 10 to April 13, 2008, the state photos of Yalong Bay in Sanya were deeply remembered by many people. On the lush red carpet, President Hu Jintao and the guests from afar walked steadily, smiling, and reviewed the honor guards of the three armed forces coming from the depths of the coconut grove. Behind them were coconut trees swaying in the wind and the blue sea flapping on the coast ... People praised: "This is the most beautiful state event!" In just four days, President Hu Jintao held a grand state event for the four heads of state and held nine talks with foreign heads of state and government. Sanya has become the focus of world attention.
From April 1 1 to April 13, 2008, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and the 20th anniversary of Hainan's establishment, the Boao Forum for Asia was held in the beautiful town of Boao. With the theme of "Green Asia: Winning in Change", the forum brought together the insights of more than 700 politicians, business elites, experts and scholars from around the world to plan a green and harmonious future for the development of Asia. The 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and the 20th anniversary of Hainan's establishment of a provincial special economic zone made the 2008 Forum particularly eye-catching.
On April 26, 2008, the people of Hainan ushered in the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a provincial special economic zone in Hainan. On this day, Hainan is decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations everywhere, beaming. In the festive atmosphere of joy and peace, people sing and dance and express their good wishes to Hainan in various ways. Journalists in Hainan recorded the glory and dreams of Hainan, the pearl of the South China Sea, with real words and lenses.
May 4th, 2008 is a day that will go down in China history forever. After five continents 19 cities, China, Hongkong, Macau, the centennial Olympic flame arrived in Sanya, our province. Started the "harmonious journey" of China 1 13 city. "Bathing the fire phoenix and singing, romantic horizon and dreams". At that time, Sanya was full of passion! Dreams are stirring! Against the backdrop of the five-star red flag, the torchbearers held high "Xiangyun" and walked through the blue sky, blue sea, silver beach, coconut grove and jubilant crowd with the "singing ceremony" of more than 500 journalists at home and abroad to convey the Olympic dream. At that moment, the world was amazed! Although the surface temperature reached more than 40 degrees Celsius, thousands of spectators and I still cheered and witnessed this historical moment with passion.
In 2008, Hainan Agricultural Reclamation, known as the "elephant in chains", officially opened the curtain of reform; In 2008, Hainan put forward the idea of building an international tourist island and a free trade zone; In 2008, Yangpu Bonded Port Area was officially closed for operation; In 2008, the preliminary work of Qiongzhou Strait Bridge was started; In 2008, Wenchang Space City started construction, Changjiang Nuclear Power Station was selected, and high-tech enterprises settled in Hainan one after another ... These successive events wrote an immortal chapter for Hainan in 2008.
Review is to recall and refer to the past and contact the future. In 2008, Hainan left me many unforgettable memories. We believe that Hainan in 2009 will be equally wonderful. We wish Hainan a better tomorrow!
Sadness in 2008
something
Let a person burst into tears.
May, 2008 12, a day destined to be remembered by history. As a journalist who went to the disaster area personally, this May is not only a memory of 2008, but also an unforgettable memory in our life. On the afternoon of May 16, 2008, this newspaper sent six journalists to form an earthquake relief news interview group to cover the disaster areas in Sichuan. During the 20 days in the disaster area, the reporter overcame many difficulties and actively participated in the local earthquake relief by means of news reports. In the news of aid to Sichuan, six special correspondents of our newspaper sent back more than 200,000 words and thousands of news pictures, reporting the dynamic news of the disaster area in a timely and detailed manner.

Not long ago, the reporter received a phone call from Mianyang, Sichuan. The other party is a driver who once drove me from Mianyang to Beichuan. A few brief greetings remind me of Sichuan and Beichuan. These memories are the saddest, most shocking, most precious and unforgettable images left to me in 2008. Walking on the wet street in Haikou, I once again thought of Beichuan, but I still couldn't help blushing.
Unforgettable hopeful faces in the disaster area
The driver's name is Cheng Zhi, from Mianyang Car Change Association. He has traveled all over the country. He is a very brave man. After the May 12 earthquake, his shelter car association took the initiative to join the team delivering earthquake relief materials, and that's how I got to know him.
At the moment of May 12 earthquake, Cheng Zhi was driving on a expressway in Jiangyou. The car suddenly jumped violently. His first reaction was that the tire was broken. But after a few seconds, the car began to swing violently from side to side, as did other cars on the road. He realized that there was an earthquake. After returning to Mianyang, he immediately volunteered to join the material delivery team. Whether transporting vegetables to Pingwu or sending water to Beichuan, when he returned to Mianyang, the car was always full of people affected by the disaster, and then it was placed at the rescue station along the way.
Cheng Zhi's phone call reminds me of the Sichuan earthquake. During my trip to Sichuan in May, the people I met left me with endless impressions: On the morning of May 17, I met my mother and son who escaped from Beichuan. The 4-year-old son Long Long's right leg is in plaster, and the young mother, Ms. Jiang, tells the story of the earthquake she experienced in Beichuan. Chen Jimei's family of five walked from Gulei Town, Beichuan County to Mianyang Kyushu Gymnasium. They were grateful that the whole family was still alive. Huang, who lost eight relatives in the earthquake, endured grief and became a volunteer. Seven days after the earthquake, the old man Xiong Guifang still sat at the door of the collapsed house and refused to leave. She had to wait for her grandson buried under the ruins of Beichuan Middle School and her husband, son and daughter-in-law under the ruins of the county animal husbandry station to come back. Walking more than 20 kilometers every day, the old man who called his daughter's name on the ruins of the dormitory building of Beichuan County Family Planning Bureau insisted on seeing his daughter and son-in-law ...
Remember the shocking post-earthquake disaster?
Only when we arrived at the disaster area did we really understand what the earthquake was about. There are many small aftershocks, which often make people dizzy and the floor is shaking.
According to the plan, I will go to Beichuan for an interview on May 18, and arrive in Beichuan by material escort vehicle. I was shocked by countless impacts along the way: after entering the boundary of Anxian County, the number of collapsed houses gradually increased, and landslide boulders appeared from time to time on the road. The road surface is full of smashed potholes, and from time to time you can see the unrecognizable vehicles ravaged by the earthquake lying on the side of the road. When I arrived in Beichuan, I found it was in ruins. /kloc-in may of 0/9, I was lucky enough to enter Beichuan county in a state of almost closing the city. The once prosperous county town is lifeless. More than 80% of the houses have become a pile of rubble, and the remaining 20% are fragmented and crumbling; On the twisted streets, cars and motorcycles that have been smashed can be seen everywhere ... everything is shocking.
After the earthquake, interview, writing, manuscript delivery and transportation, all things that seem simple at ordinary times, have become very difficult in Beichuan after the earthquake. It is difficult to get through the phone, and the power generation of the rescue team needs to control the time, so wireless Internet access is not needed at all. I want to go back to Mianyang to stop more than a dozen cars ... but what are these difficulties in the face of death? What is that compared to those who have lost their loved ones and have to live?
Recalling Beichuan, I couldn't help crying.
The earthquake brought endless pain and sorrow, endless sadness and desolation to Beichuan. Because of this, Beichuan after the earthquake left me an indelible memory.
When I return to Hainan, I find myself paying special attention to Beichuan, and I will watch all the news about Beichuan carefully. There is no accurate language to describe the feeling of caring.
At the end of 2008, looking back on the road I have traveled in the past year, I found that the deepest memory was in May, and the most painful memory was in Beichuan. So that when I mentioned Beichuan, I couldn't help but recall the pictures of many people, events and light and shadow at that time, and then tears quietly flowed down.
Looking back on my 2008, I thought of Beichuan again, and I couldn't help but burst into tears.
Some people are unforgettable.
After the Wenchuan earthquake, six reporters of our newspaper rushed to the disaster area for earthquake relief. During more than 20 days and nights in the disaster area, six reporters of our newspaper overcame many difficulties, such as traffic difficulties, food and shelter difficulties, publishing difficulties and so on, and sent back the most authentic, on-site and super-powerful news to Hainan, providing another channel for Hainan people to understand the latest progress of earthquake relief in the disaster area. Six journalists have measured Wenchuan, Beichuan, Dujiangyan, Mianzhu, Shifang, Anxian, Pingwu and Yingxiu, and sent back more than 200,000 words and thousands of news pictures.

Girls in disaster areas become good friends of journalists.
People have to contact many people and things in their life. Some people "ha ha ha ha" as soon as they meet, and they will never remember it again. And some people can't forget it as soon as they meet, and often keep in touch and communicate. For example, those people who met in the "5. 12" Wenchuan earthquake will be remembered all their lives, although they are some fragments in memory.
Before I went to Sichuan for an interview, Yang Li was just an ordinary netizen of mine. I don't know her work unit or her real age, except that she is a young woman who loves literature in Chengdu. On the afternoon of May 16, 2008, I tried to contact her online and asked her to find a place for our six journalists in advance. Never met before, she readily agreed and told me her mobile phone number.
The six of us arrived at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport at three o'clock the next morning. Turn on the phone, and 10 many missed calls and text messages pop up one after another, all from Yang Li. Although we stayed in a cheap and comfortable hotel room for less than an hour, we are still grateful to this young woman from Chengdu, and we have never seen her help.
After we met in May 17, we realized that this post-80s girl was a director of sctv. In this earthquake, her house was also damaged to varying degrees. But the girl who sleeps in the tent in the square at night calls the hotel one after another. At that special time, it was really not easy to book a "not too expensive" hotel room. Then she asked for leave from work and took me and my colleagues as guides to interview in Deyang, Mianzhu, Shifang and other hardest hit areas. Thanks to her help, our interview went smoothly, and we arrived at the first inaccessible disaster site, such as Dongfang Steam Turbine Factory in Hanwang Town, Mianzhu, and helicopter transfer station in Qingping Township. Yang Li, like us, shuttled from one disaster relief point to another, walking in the ruins. We only have the same purpose, hoping that the people in the disaster area will get rid of their pain as soon as possible.
Be the boss and doctor of "migrant workers"
On the day I went to Gulei Town, Beichuan, where the disaster was serious, I met two "migrant workers" on the road. They built toilets and bathhouses from Mianyang to the resettlement site of the affected people in Gulei Town.
The reporter met them again in the empty resettlement site of the affected people in the town. A truck full of cement and sand was brought by this "migrant worker" named Liao, who wants to build a bathhouse for the affected people here; Another "migrant worker" surnamed Zhou is helping to unload cement and sand. It looks very hard.
After the cement and sand were unloaded, the staff of the earthquake relief command center informed them that the planned bathhouse had been cancelled. In this regard, Mr. Liao is somewhat annoyed. "Manager Liao, I think it is better to withdraw, because the town needs unified planning. We are here to do good deeds and obey the arrangements of the town." A tall man said to Mr. Liao. I found out that Mr. Liao is the owner of a real estate company in Chengdu. He has been a volunteer in the disaster area for several days after the earthquake. Mr. Zhou, with a blank face next to him, is a doctor of finance in a bank in Beijing. When the earthquake happened, he was assisting in a bank in Mianyang.
That is, in the past six months, the lives of those unforgettable friends have changed a lot, but the only constant is that we met and still kept in touch because of the earthquake relief, telling the new scene after the recovery and reconstruction of the disaster area. No matter how time passes, that unforgettable memory will always connect each other.
Supervision in 2008
something
It's fresh in people's memory.
"Grassroots celebrities" move from behind the scenes to the front desk
□ Reporter Chen Mark
News replay: A cement pole in the main street of Jinshan Town, Wenchang City, 10 days ago was smashed into two pieces by a big truck and hung precariously in the air. Residents nearby complained to the relevant units 10 days, which made pedestrians and drivers tremble. In desperation, local residents posted a bizarre notice on the cement pole to find the leaders of relevant departments. After our reporter intervened in the interview and investigation, the engineering repair team of the telecommunications department will be replaced by poles. Relevant departments also announced the results to the media afterwards: Wenchang Telecom Company demoted the line maintenance personnel who were directly responsible, dismissed the director of the line maintenance center who was directly responsible for management, and the administrative record was severely punished. A competent leader of Wenchang Telecom Company also resigned due to the incident of "asking the director to inform". (See 20081Continuous Reports on October 7th and 8th 10 for details).
"This is a very successful report."
This month's "News Review" spoke highly of this: a telephone pole was hit, and residents posted "notices" to find the "director", which in itself was a very funny news event; However, in the report of Hainan Special Zone Daily on this incident, the direction of public opinion was correct. The reporter witnessed the incident on the spot, without comment or exaggeration. "This is a very successful report."
Those who posted "notice" were exposed.
"A Xiang" in the original text is the owner of a small local electrical appliance company. His name is Wu Qun and he was born in 1959. Afterwards, when interviewed by the media, he admitted that he had "carefully planned" the posting of "Looking for the Director's Notice". He said that the purpose is to find effective ways to reflect public opinion and advocate mass supervision mechanism.
Wu Qun, who is nearly 50 years old, told reporters that after posting this notice, "I have prepared for the worst". On the day the first report was published, Wu Qun went to buy a copy of Hainan Special Zone Daily early in the morning. "After reading the report, I have no intention to do business all day, and my heart is in a state of anxiety."
Things are not as bad as Wu Qun thought. The person in charge of the relevant departments of Wenchang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government took the initiative to contact the reporter and made a quick statement on this matter. When Wu Qun learned that, his mood finally stabilized.
"Official searching for you changed my life."
Reprints and comments of "Official Search Notice" appeared on the Internet, but it also had a certain impact on Wu Qun's daily life. This man, who is nearly half a century old, has benefited the most from learning to surf the Internet. Winning the respect of local government departments and the masses is also the happiest thing for Wu Qun in 2008.
