It is the largest English subject competition in China, one of the important reward mechanisms of basic foreign language education in China, and an English comprehensive ability competition for middle school students all over the country. Since 199 1, the national English proficiency competition for middle school students has been successfully held for 22 sessions, with more than 60 million middle school students from 32 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) (including Taiwan Province Province) participating.
