There are mainly three kinds of tickets suitable for Tokyo: watermelon card (suica, JR's Tokyo wide-area pass (Tokyo subway 3-day ticket /2-day ticket /3-day ticket).

Watermelon card
Watermelon card is the most common IC stored value card in Japan. It is widely used (it can be used in most parts of Japan, and can be used as electronic wallets, stations, convenience stores and some vending machines.
Ordinary watermelon cards have a deposit of 500 yen, valid for 10 years, and can only be returned before the departure of Kanto. However, from September 2008, you can choose a red watermelon card (welcomesuica), which contains no deposit and is valid for only one month, but the balance cannot be returned.
The watermelon card for traveling to Japan can be said to be one for each person, and most stations (including transfer) can swipe in and out of the station. It saves the time and energy of buying tickets and avoids the embarrassment of a bag of steel.
Sightseeing in downtown Tokyo
If there is a sightseeing plan in downtown Tokyo, a 24/48/72-hour ticket for the Tokyo subway can save you a lot of money.
If you enter from Narita Airport, you can buy skyliner and Tokyo Metro Pass at the airport counter, and buy skyliner round-trip +24-hour subway pass (4,700 yen is the most cost-effective, cheaper than buying it alone 1040 yen, which is basically equivalent to giving a bus ticket.
If you don't like to do raiders and want to have a relaxed and simple tour around Tokyo, you can consider sightseeing buses in downtown Tokyo.

Tokyo wide-area sightseeing
The scenic spots around Tokyo can be roughly divided into two categories:

Many scenic spots in the northern region need to take the Shinkansen, so when you go to these areas, you need to buy the JRPASS Tokyo Wide Area Pass (10000 yen), which will make this trip super cost-effective.
The pass is valid for 3 consecutive days, during which you can take all JR trams in JR East Japan (Nex, Monorail, Tokyo) and some trains in Hokuriku Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen and Shang Yue Shinkansen. These shinkansen can basically get the ticket value back in one round trip.

the Northeast area
If you want to apply for a three-year visa in Northeast China, there are three options.
1. Tokyo+Tohoku: JAPASS Tohoku Railway Pass (Tohoku/Niigata Nagano, take the Shinkansen for free.
2. Northeast+Hokkaido: Hokkaido Railway Pass in Northeast Japan/Hokkaido Railway Pass in East Japan
3. Northeast China: If the trip spans two counties, you can consider the JRPASS Northeast Railway Pass. If you don't move for many times, you can buy tickets directly in cash (you must prepare more cash to go to the northeast, and in many places you can only pay in cash.
Western Japan region
If you travel from Osaka to West Japan or North Road, you will definitely use JRPASS, but because of different destinations, JR West Japan divides PASS into 9 types.
