Manghe landscape has four characteristics: strangeness, seclusion, beauty and danger. Known as "Small Guilin on the Loess Plateau". Manghe River is covered with green mountains and staggered peaks. At present, there are 285 species of animals in the scenic spot, including 2 14 species of birds, 43 species of mammals and 28 species of amphibians and reptiles. Black stork, leopard and golden eagle are listed as national first-class protected animals, while national second-class protected animals are macaque and giant salamander. There are 882 species of seed plants in the scenic spot, among which Taxus chinensis and Orchidaceae are the first-class protected plants, Bai Shu and Cercidiphyllum japonicum are the second-class protected plants, and the medicinal plants are Cornus officinalis, Forsythia suspensa, Schisandra chinensis and Gastrodia elata. Among them, Cornus officinalis has the greatest medicinal value. Now there are about 70,000 to 80,000 plants in the scenic spot, with an annual output of about 30 to 50 tons. High quality and beautiful color, ranking first in the country, is a specialty of Manghe area. So Manghe River, also known as "the hometown of Cornus officinalis", is one of the four major producing areas of Cornus officinalis in China, so the air here contains the smell released by various Chinese herbal medicines.
