More and more students are willing to get higher degrees, which definitely bodes well for the future of the economy and the country. Scientific and technological development, social evolution and understanding of nature and history are all progressing. They need people who study more deeply to move on. Traditional ideas in many fields are becoming outdated, and society needs new ideas to transform it and make it a better environment for human beings. All these must be based on further study, research and more professional work, rather than basic disciplines that rely on past knowledge.
On the other hand, it also reflects the trend of fierce competition among college students in the job market. More and more people can't find jobs in their major when they graduate. In order to survive, they have to give up their major and engage in other occupations. This is a huge waste of national educational resources, especially considering that these students occupied the position of universities four years ago and deprived their competitors of the opportunity to enter higher education. When changes occur in other fields, there are no winners among universities, undergraduates and those "failed" competitors.
It is very likely that the problem of fierce competition will be postponed rather than solved, that is, it will be taken to the next level. If all the bachelors are entering the master's degree, the competition for job positions may calm down temporarily, but it will start again after three years of master's degree graduation, or become a doctor five years later.
