During the construction of Lantian Airport, American engineer James Bing abandoned pebbles and only used river sand and pebbles without grouting, resulting in less stones, more sand, unstable walking and soft walking, which seriously affected the engineering quality of Lantian Airport. Later, when the plane landed, the runway cracked, and it was rebuilt to meet the standard, becoming the first concrete runway airport in China. After the completion of Lantian Airport, China Airlines piloted the route from Tingjiang to Luzhou, which was used by the Kuomintang Air Force until liberation.
Modern Luzhou Lantian Airport
Luzhou Lantian Airport has opened routes 18 from Luzhou to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Haikou, Changsha, Nanning, Xi 'an, Kunming, Guiyang, Daocheng Aden, Lanzhou, Lijiang, Nanjing, Wuhan and Zhengzhou. Although Luzhou Lantian Airport has a long history, it has become the third largest airport in Sichuan after years of development. However, due to historical reasons, objective conditions and the rapid development of the city, the airport has been on the edge of the central city, and the deterioration of clearance conditions has seriously affected flight safety. Therefore, the relocation of Luzhou Airport is necessary and urgent.
Xinluzhou Yunlong Airport
In order to promote the local opening to the outside world and the development of traffic economy, Luzhou proposed to relocate the airport at the end of 2008. It is planned to take the junction of Shidong Town in Longmatan District and Yunlong Town in Lu Xian County as the airport site and name it as Luzhou Yunlong Airport. The construction of Luzhou Yunlong Airport is on the right track with the approval of relevant state ministries and commissions and the army.
After the completion of 20 18 Luzhou Yunlong Airport, the contradiction between the serious infrastructure shortage of Lantian Airport and the deterioration of limited development clearance conditions will be fundamentally solved. After the completion of the new airport, the throughput will surpass Lantian Airport, the cargo and mail volume will be greatly improved, and the regional air transport center at the junction of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing will be basically built.
Hardware facilities
Luzhou Yunlong Airport is a domestic feeder airport and a western trunk airport, with a flight zone grade of 4D. The airport terminal covers an area of 30,000 square meters and is divided into domestic and international floors (including customs, commodity inspection, animal and plant inspection and quarantine systems), which can meet the annual passenger throughput of 2.6 million passengers. Recently, the airport runway is 2,800 m * 50 m, the shoulder width on both sides is 2.5 m, the parallel taxiway is 2,800 m * 18 m, the shoulder width on both sides is 3.5 m, and there are 6 running and sliding lanes, which can meet the requirements of 10000 tons of annual mail throughput and 24,762 aircraft take-off and landing flights every year.
