Tibet University was founded in 1952, and now has Lhasa Campus and Linzhi Campus. Headquartered in Lhasa, the capital of the autonomous region. The school has liberal arts, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics and management, tourism and foreign languages, art, teachers colleges, continuing education colleges and Tibet College of China Central Radio and TV University * * *1. There are 8 master's degree awarding points in Tibetan language and literature, Tibetan history, Tibetan art, public management, crop cultivation, ecology, preventive veterinary medicine and musicology. There are 49 undergraduate majors and more than 30 general specialties, covering more than a dozen disciplines such as literature, science, agriculture, engineering, medicine, management, law and art, and a multi-level and multi-form school-running pattern such as postgraduate education, general specialty education, adult education, distance education, correspondence education and international student education has initially formed.
There are 863 faculty members and 523 full-time teachers in Lhasa Campus, including 9 1 person with postgraduate education (9 doctors and 82 masters), accounting for 17.4% of the total number of full-time teachers, and 56 are studying for doctors and masters. There are eight school-level scientific research institutions in Lhasa Campus, including King Gelsall Research Office, Tibet Art Research Institute, Tibet Population Research Institute, Environmental Physics Research Institute, Animal Ecology Research Institute, Educational Psychology Research Institute, Economic Research Institute and Mathematics Education Research Institute. In August, 2000, Li Lanqing, former Vice Premier of the State Council, and his party visited the Lhasa Campus and gave an important instruction of "focusing on supporting the construction of Tibet University". The Fourth Forum on Tibet Work of the Central Committee also clearly stated that "concentrate on running Tibet University well". The reconstruction and expansion project of Tibet University is the key project of the 10th Five-Year Plan for Xizang Autonomous Region's economic and social development, and it is currently under construction. In 2007, a completely modern new campus covering an area of 834. 19 mu will be built.
In September 2004, our school was approved by the autonomous region and the Ministry of Education, which provided new development opportunities for our school.
