Medical informatization is the digitalization, networking and informatization of medical services. It refers to the collection, storage, processing, extraction and data exchange of patient information and management information for hospitals and hospital departments through computer science, modern network communication technology and database technology, and meets the functional needs of all authorized users. According to the international unified level of medical system informatization, medical informatization construction is divided into three levels: hospital information management system, clinical information management system and public health informatization.

The "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" of the Ministry of Health clearly points out that health informatization is an important task to deepen medical reform. The Ministry of Health has initially determined the road map of China's health informatization construction, referred to as "352 1 project", that is, building national, provincial and municipal health information platforms, strengthening five business applications of public health, medical services, new rural cooperative medical system, essential drug system and comprehensive management, and building two basic databases of health records and electronic medical records and 1 private network.
