Yuncheng, called Hedong in ancient times, also known as Phoenix, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. Located in the southwest of Shanxi, it is bordered by Luliang Mountain and Linfen in the north, Zhongtiaoshan and Jincheng in the east, and Weinan in Shaanxi and Sanmenxia in Henan across the Yellow River in the west and south, with a total area of 14 182 square kilometers.
