What are the symptoms of novel coronavirus infection?

Patients infected with COVID-19 virus will have different symptoms due to their different physical conditions and the severity of infection. However, most patients have fever, dry cough and fatigue as the main symptoms, and a few patients may have no obvious symptoms after being infected with COVID-19, which needs to be analyzed according to specific conditions.

1, mild symptoms: early low fever, mild fatigue, olfactory and taste disorders, etc. A few patients may also be accompanied by respiratory symptoms, such as stuffy nose, runny nose and dry cough. Some patients may be mistaken for cold symptoms, accompanied by sore throat, muscle pain, conjunctivitis, diarrhea and other symptoms. Generally, there is no pneumonia such as high fever, chills, hemoptysis, chest pain and shortness of breath, and the disease progresses slowly;

2. Severe symptoms: Severe patients are more common in the elderly, those with chronic basic diseases, women in the third trimester and perinatal period, and obese people, showing moderate to low fever or no obvious fever. There are also patients with mild symptoms but rapid progress, who may have dyspnea or hypoxemia about 1 week after onset, showing inattention and decreased intelligence and vision. Acute respiratory distress syndrome may also occur, manifested as dyspnea, cyanosis, anxiety, metabolic acidosis, coagulation dysfunction, sepsis, shock, multiple organ failure and so on. Very few patients may also have ischemic necrosis of limbs and central nervous system involvement.

In addition, if the infected person is young and has relatively mild early symptoms, some symptoms may be atypical, such as vomiting, diarrhea and other digestive tract symptoms, or just poor response and shortness of breath. Therefore, if you suspect that you are infected with COVID-19 virus, or have had contact with high-risk groups or high-risk areas, you should go to the hospital for nucleic acid testing in time to make a definite diagnosis.
