Physical geography belongs to the intermountain basin and fault basin bounded by Taibaiwei Mountain and Hengshan Mountain at the northern foot of Taihang Mountain and its western extension. The route starts at the junction of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan, crosses the northern part of Taihang Mountain, passes through the small basin between Baishan Mountains, enters Lingqiu Basin, passes through Guomao Mountain at the southern edge of Hengshan Mountain, goes up along the source of Tanghe River, enters the hinterland of Hengshan Mountain, passes through Qiangfengling, Xiatangyu River and enters Datong Basin through Cuiping Mountain in the northern part of Hengshan Mountain.
