Hello, Mr Roman relies on Denzel Hayes Washington Jr.'s most daring, unique and least "Denzel Hayes Washington Jr." performance in recent years. Combining the personal charm (and warm and huge smile) that any decent villain in the past had, Denzel perfectly presented a lonely existence like a relic of the old times from his fat figure, eye-catching explosive head and front teeth, almost whispering to himself, and various stiff limbs.
All kinds of eccentric personalities and conservative ideas become the best partners of the theme itself, and the occasional actors themselves also help the story not to be boring. In the crucial last 30 minutes, people can feel a little pity, if not conviction.
Hello, Mr. Roman is a classic American tragedy, which is full of foresight in view of the ambiguous moral concept of the authorities. Maybe it's because of the strange title and plot, and the movie tickets are not very good to sell. But this film is undoubtedly one of the most wonderful and lasting performances this year.
Hello, Mr. Roman's brief story
After his long-term partner died, a Los Angeles lawyer (Denzel Hayes Washington Jr.) took a new case himself, but he didn't know that his life track had changed dramatically.
His home and office look chaotic, just like himself, but Roman is very systematic in preparing the case. This made his boss shine in court, while he stood firmly behind the scenes as he wished.
He is very unsociable and obsessive-compulsive. When meeting new people, he had to ask them to call him by his full name-Roman J. israel. He is eccentric, probably autistic, but he is very familiar with the law and extremely clear about right and wrong.
However, when his partner suddenly had a heart attack, Roman had to cooperate with another law firm, among which the cunning and sharp George (Colin Farrell) was far beyond Roman's acceptance. Therefore, Roman, an activist against racism and fighting for civil rights, and an idealist who believes in the sanctity of law, was forced to gradually yield to his own values.
