After work, I want to learn a sideline. What should I learn from experts? What about psychology?

Before answering this question, I think you need to clarify a question first. That's why you study this sideline. Do you want to make money from this sideline? Or take interest as the starting point to learn what you like and enrich your life?

If you want to make money, I don't advise you to study psychology. The reason for this is the following:

1. If you want to work in psychology, you need higher professional knowledge. Being a psychological counseling industry or a psychologist requires a wealth of professional knowledge reserves, and it is difficult to reach this height by self-study. Psychologists also require a corresponding professional background. Professional knowledge is not so important for those experts who use psychology or WeChat official accounts to solve emotional problems, but I think if you want to help people solve emotional problems, maybe life experience is more important than psychological knowledge.

2. Psychology covers a wide range, but it is not profound. Before you master a certain aspect of psychology, you will find that you seem to know a little about everything, but in fact you don't know anything. You feel that you know a little about management, education, human resources, public relations, sales and even philosophy. But you find yourself unprofessional and can't compete with the corresponding professionals in any field. Therefore, if you want to find a good job through self-study psychology, the chances are slim.

If you are only interested in psychology, I think psychology is a very interesting subject, which can help you to know the world and yourself again.

I majored in psychology in the United States as an undergraduate. To tell the truth, when I first went to college, I was very confused about what major I wanted to study and my future. I don't know what I want to do and what I can do in the future. So I chose my major of interest-psychology. Never mind what psychology is. Let me talk about the feelings and gains of studying psychology for four years. After studying psychology, you will find that you have not only learned a lot of theories, but also learned how to see the world from a new angle. You will find that you can understand many phenomena that you could not understand before. Take chestnuts for example. On the Internet, we sometimes see news that some women are being molested. When we open the comment area, we will find that in addition to the condemnation of the offenders, there is actually condemnation of the victims. Some people will comment that these women were molested because they were dressed in explicit clothes and were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whenever this time, we will sigh, the beginning of life, inherent defects. The evil of human nature is vividly reflected in these comments. But when you study psychology, you will find that this may not be the evil of human nature, and those who make disgusting remarks may just be a person with no sense of security inside. They use psychological defense mechanism. When people see other people get hurt because they don't know why, people will panic, and they will be afraid that they will get hurt for some unknown reasons. So they must sum up a reason to explain why that person was hurt, so as to comfort themselves, as long as I don't, I won't be hurt. So for our example, if those commentators are men, they may worry that their wives, daughters or any women they care about will also be molested, so they have to convince themselves that those molested women are hurt because they wear revealing clothes and travel alone at night. As long as my daughter and wife are not like this, they are safe. If those commentators are women, they are worried about themselves.

So after studying psychology, you will find that your perspective on the world will change. You will find that some people may not be as annoying as we think, but they may just be a group of people in need.

All the above are personal understanding and opinions, purely manual, thank you for reading!

I am a graduate of psychology and a graduate student of education. I want to do something for the popularization of psychology in China.

I am not an expert, but I am lucky to see that you mentioned psychology, and I happen to have been engaged in psychological counseling, so I want to share some experiences with you for your reference.

No matter whether we study sideline or not, we will find another way to get a second income and make our career more colorful. Let me get this straight. Studying psychology is a good choice.

First of all, learn the basic knowledge of psychology, because you are learning the changing law of people's hearts. Whether it is a means of making a living in the future or not, it will subtly affect your mentality, your relationship with people around you, your relationship with work, and let you develop in a better direction;

Secondly, if we also have a good idea of becoming a psychological counselor, then learning psychology is a good stepping stone to the workplace;

Then, the focus is on the growth of mentality. The growth of mentality can enable us to have foresight and see further, so that we can avoid some life traps and live a smooth, comfortable, successful and happy life.

The premise of these is that you should try to learn psychology.

Now there is a false topic circulating in the psychological circle. If you want to become a psychological counselor, you can't become a psychological counselor without learning the theory for ten or eight years, or spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to learn technical methods, which makes many people flinch from this career.

Is this really the case?

If you continue to study like some people, will you really go to psychological counseling? I have been working in the front line of psychological counseling. I have met many colleagues and many friends who have just entered this industry. Some of them have doctors in psychology, and some have spent more than 200,000 yuan on aromatherapy. But when they really face the problems faced by visitors, they are at a loss. What they had learned before didn't help at that moment, and the negotiation ended in failure.

So, if you really want to study psychology, whether for your own use or to prepare for becoming a consultant in the future. I have a little suggestion, learn from many sources and compare carefully.

If you want to ask me where I learned all this, I will share with you the QR code of an official WeChat account, which contains many good psychological articles and resources, all of which are free and open.

My situation is similar to yours, but there are some differences.

I also work full-time. I don't have a major in psychology, and I don't have a professional title. I suggest taking one, which is limited by the certification of some platforms and related domestic policy factors.

In addition, the real need for practice, practice makes true knowledge. The necessary knowledge system is necessary, but it can't be limited to this.

Personally, I think that after we come into contact with psychology, we are first the healer, then the perceptor and finally the leader. Think carefully about the connection between them.

Good luck ~

Psychology is a subject that many people are interested in, but few people will delve into it because it is quite difficult to understand. However, learning psychology well will be of great help to friends, family members and even families and children around us. If you can be stronger, you can do something to help others, do psychological counseling for others, and put their lives on the right track.

Your question is actually to ask everyone to help you confirm your learning psychology, okay? Can it be a sideline to make money?

First of all, it depends on whether you are interested in psychology. Secondly, are you confident to learn psychology well? Psychology has a wide range and is also very practical.

For example; In Hong Kong TV series, a suspect is holding a hostage, and the police ask the police to agree to his request or kill the hostage. At this time, the police will send negotiators to negotiate with the suspect.

Negotiators need to quickly grasp the personal information of suspects, including; Hobbies, family situation, who I trust most at ordinary times, the reasons for taking hostages, the results he wants and so on. Negotiators are required to have not only psychological knowledge, but also knowledge.

Multi-disciplinary and multi-field knowledge, otherwise, it is impossible to negotiate.

Therefore, on the basis of learning psychology well, we must learn other subjects to work effectively. Psychological counseling is also a sunrise industry.

It seems that many people who develop their sideline business into their main business are starting from their interests, rather than making money from the beginning. Since it is a sideline, choose what you like to do. If you don't make money, at least you like it.

Learning what is good requires one's own interest and exploration. Psychology is good, although it may not be a sideline. If you learn well, you will at least please others.
