Changsha City is located in the eastern and northern part of Hunan Province, downstream of Xiangjiang River, and on the western edge of Changliu Basin. It is adjacent to Yichun and Pingxiang in Jiangxi Province in the east, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan in the south, Loudi and Yiyang in the west and Yueyang and Yiyang in the north. Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province and the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, also known as "Star City".
Changsha is called Star City for many reasons. One theory is that the name of Changsha comes from the stars in the sky, because the ancients divided the stars in the sky into 28 stars, one of which is called Chu and Jing. Surrounded by mountains at both ends of the northeast and northwest, the terrain is steep and the slope in the middle is gentle, slightly like a saddle. Xiangjiang River runs obliquely through the middle from south to north, and the mountains in the south are undulating.
The city is a gentle slope and flat hill composed of multi-level terraces. Orange Island in Xiangjiang River is 5 kilometers long. In the east of Changsha, Li Anyun Mountain, Dawei Mountain and Jiuling Mountain are arranged in the form of a wild goose, with a northeast-southwest trend. The canyons are parallel and staggered, and there are more than 50 peaks above 800 meters above sea level. Among them, the peak in the west of Changsha at an altitude of 13, and the highest peak in the city, Qixingling, is 10.
