Bai Juyi's idiom 72 in Tang poetry is "It's not easy to live in a big place": first set your mind at ease, then settle down.

Because his father was an official in other places, Bai Juyi lived with his mother Chen in Dongguozhai, Xinzheng, his birthplace, until he was ten years old. It was not until the third year of Jianzhong (782) that he came to live here with Bai, the father of another family in Xuzhou at that time, when he was eleven years old.

Laifuli was originally intended to escape the chaos in Henan Province, but after Laifuli, the two rivers (Hebei Road and Henan Road) are still fighting fiercely and will spread to Xuzhou at any time. In order to ensure the safety of children, Bai sent several children to several relatively safe places to take refuge. Under the arrangement of his father, Bai Juyi went to Vietnam and defected to his cousin who was a county commandant there.

In the beautiful hometown of wuyue, Bai Juyi lived a carefree life for more than four years under the care of his uncle and cousin. He looked at the world with a teenager's eyes, saw the beauty of misty rain in the south of the Yangtze River, and also saw the hardships of lower-class workers.

Young Bai Juyi also experienced loneliness in a foreign land. He studies poetry harder and harder. He wants to study hard to relieve his loneliness and prepare for the future senior high school entrance examination.

I heard that if Bai Juyi is a scholar, he can enter the officialdom and study almost crazy. As the days passed, his health gradually went wrong. In addition to weakness, his vision began to blur because of excessive use of his eyes. The fingers that keep holding pens and writing every day have also worn cocoons.

He made up his mind that as long as he became an official, he must be a good official who is honest and selfless and sincerely serves the people, and he must use his own strength to save the working people from the fire and water.

One day, he came to the wild and saw weeds turning green everywhere. He thought that when he lived in Xinzheng and R&F, he often went to the fields to burn crops with his friends in winter. Although the hay has been burned, the grass will still be blue and white in its original place next spring.

Back at home, Bai Juyi, aged 16, came up with the idea of taking the imperial examination and began to write this song Farewell to the Ancient Grassland:

The long grass is so lush that the withered grass will thicken the color of the grass every autumn and winter.

Wildfire can't burn it out, but the spring breeze can revive it.

Weeds and wild flowers are all over the ancient road, and the end of the grass in the sun is your journey.

I once again sent my bosom friend, and the thick grass represented my deep affection.

After writing this poem, Bai Juyi bid farewell to his cousin and went to the capital Chang 'an alone.

As soon as he entered Chang 'an, Bai Juyi saw what is prosperity and what is hope.

Before coming to Beijing, he was told that writing poems is only one of them, and the most important thing is to have the recommendation of heavyweight literati.

So after Bai Juyi arrived in Chang 'an, he began to inquire about the names and residences of Beijing literati.

The name he heard most was: Gu Kuang.

Gu Kuang, most appreciated by Premier Li Bi at present, has been introduced to North Korea as a writer.

After receiving instructions, Bai Juyi found Gu Kuang's residence.

On this day, Bai Juyi came to Gu Kuang's house with the song Farewell to the Ancient Grassland.

Gu Kuang, who was nearly sixty years old, saw a little boy coming to visit rashly and asked with a smile, "What's his name?"

"Bai Juyi." Bai Juyi replied timidly.

Gu Kuang smiled as soon as he heard Bai Juyi's name. He repeated "Juyi" twice, and then said sarcastically, "Chang 'an is expensive, but it's not easy to live in a big place! "

Bai Juyi smiled shyly and did not respond.

"Since I'm here, let's see what you can do. Did you bring a poem? " Gu Kuang held out his hand.

Bai Juyi immediately took out the song "Farewell to the Ancient Grassland" and handed it up respectfully.

It doesn't matter if you don't look. After reading it, the expression on Mr. Gu's face slowly changed, from disdain to doubt, to surprise, and finally to exultation.

"Wildfire never completely devoured them, and they grew taller in the spring breeze." After reading these two poems aloud, Gu Kuang pointed to the manuscript and said loudly to Bai Juyi, "It is not difficult to write such poems, not to mention living in Chang 'an, or even living on earth! The old lady just said' it's not easy to live in a big house', just as a joke. "

Gu Kuang's praise immediately made Bai Juyi's poem name spread all over Beijing.

Because he was not qualified for the Jinshi exam and his body broke down again, Bai Juyi soon returned to Jiangnan after seeing Gu Kuang.

The following year, Bai Juyi's father was transferred to Quzhou as a driver, and Bai Juyi went to Quzhou with his father. Later, he experienced his father's death, funeral and moved to Luoyang. It was not until Zhenyuan was twenty-eight years old in the fifteenth year (799) that he went to Chang 'an to take the Jinshi exam, and in February of the following year, he ranked fourth.

At the age of thirty-three, Bai Juyi passed the "Excellent Book Award" exam and won the post of secretary and provincial school bookkeeper with Yuan Zhen.

Finally, he became an official, with a stable salary, and Bai Juyi's life was guaranteed and his work was not busy. He is quite satisfied with this state:

Little talent is hard to use, but learning lies in the secretary.

I entered the province at the age of 30 because I had to be stubborn.

There are four or five cabins, a horse and two servants.

The salary is 6000, and the monthly payment is also in surplus.

There is no food and clothing, and few people are arrested.

Therefore, young people's hearts will be calm every day.

Just joined the work, if you want to buy a house in Beijing, it is unrealistic. So Bai Juyi can only rent four or five huts in Xin 'anli.

In the next forty years, Bai Juyi was promoted and raised. However, in the sixth year of Yuanhe (8 15), he was neglected and demoted to Jiangzhou Sima. After experiencing the feud with the party, Bai Juyi gradually realized the darkness of reality and the cruelty of struggle, and fully saw the essence of "people in officialdom can't help themselves." So, he began to take the initiative to avoid capital, away from the vortex of struggle, and do his best.

Bai Juyi ended his relegated life in Jiangzhou and Zhongzhou and returned to Beijing to live as a doctor. At that time, he was given a flying fish bag, and soon he was given a title by the emperor. At that time, the scenery was infinite.

Bai Juyi finally has the ability to buy a house in Beijing. The house is in Zhao Guofang near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Living in his new house, Bai Juyi relieved a wish in his heart. He said with emotion in the poem Buju:

After traveling in Kyoto for twenty years, there is no place to be poor.

It is better to hide than to envy snails.

Let's stand on the ground and avoid being like a puppet drifter.

However, I am satisfied and dare to bid farewell to the noise.

In the third year of Emperor Wenzong Daiwa (829), Bai Juyi was appointed as the capital of Prince Ke Si. From this year on, he began to make his first home in Luoyang Road and started to run his own house.

After the manna incident six years later, Bai Juyi, who saw through the current situation, finally chose to quit the state affairs completely:

Fortune is unpredictable, and most of them leave early like prophets.

When Jun Bai Shou returned to Japan together, it was time for me to go to Castle Peak alone.

Bai Juyi, who took a back seat, did not "live alone in the green hills", but returned to his home in Luoyang to enjoy family happiness, as his "On Pool" said:

Ten acres of house, five acres of garden. There is a pool of water and a thousand bamboo poles. It is not called narrow soil. Don't say it's partial. Enough for knees and shoulders. There are halls, courts, bridges and boats. There are books, wine, songs and strings. When you are in the middle, the white beard floats. Be content with what you know, and do not expect anything else. If a bird chooses a forest, it will build a nest. Like a turtle living in a ridge, I don't know the breadth of the sea. Lingheyan, Zi Ling Bailian. Everything I like is in front of me. Have a drink or sing an article. A broken wife and a broken son make a dog restless. It's easy to live, and I will die in the meantime.

Even the "house" has a * *15 mu of "garden", which has truly achieved the goals of "living big" and "living easily". Although he was not in Beijing, Bai Juyi was contented and carefree, and did not harm others actively or passively in his official career, so he made public appearances, which may be the reason why he finally lived to be 75 years old.
