Nantong University Library, which was merged from its predecessor libraries, is now distributed in the main campus, Qixiu campus, Zhongxiu campus and Qidong campus, with a total area of 47,300 square meters and 2,860 reading seats. The museum has departments such as literature construction, circulation of books and periodicals, literature reading, information consultation, information technology, information retrieval teaching and research section, Qixiu branch, Zhongxiu branch and scientific and technological information research institute.

The library is rich in resources, complete in literature types, wide in coverage and reasonable in structure, especially in industrial technology, literature, medicine and economy, which not only meets the needs of the construction of key disciplines in the school, but also meets the needs of running a comprehensive university. As of February 201165438+,there are 2178,000 paper documents and 8,553 Chinese and foreign periodicals. The library is rich in electronic literature resources and has various large-scale comprehensive databases, including nearly 50 large-scale databases in Chinese and foreign languages, 4 self-built databases, 0.4 million e-books/kloc-0, and 3.702 million doctoral dissertations.

The library has built a dedicated network application system with 10 Gigabit access to the library, 1 Gigabit building, 100 Gigabit desktop, and multi-campus optical fiber direct connection, which has reached the domestic first-class standard of the central computer room and remote monitoring room, and a fully functional software and hardware support system represented by SAN storage, minicomputer, PC server, ORACLE database and remote automatic data backup. A fully functional online information resource service system consisting of remote package library, local mirror image and self-built database has been formed. The total storage capacity of the storage device is 1.80TB, and the storage capacity of electronic literature information is 80 TB, which can provide 24-hour online query, browsing and downloading of full-text periodicals, titles, abstracts and electronic books in Chinese and foreign languages. Using Huiwen document information service system to handle daily business, the automatic management of document acquisition, cataloging, reservation, circulation, public inquiry, interlibrary loan, periodical management, loan and return is realized.

Adhering to the tenet of "reader first, service first", the library provides readers with traditional services such as information consultation, document retrieval and new book recommendation by using advanced management methods, and also provides services such as online recommendation, document delivery, sci-tech novelty retrieval, topic selection service, database application training, personalized document push, subject librarian, regional document resources and so on, which are beneficial to school teaching and research, personnel training and subject construction.
