The county seat is surrounded by mountains, criss-crossing mountains, with the east-west trend of baimashan and the north-south trend of Guantouliang, which divides the county seat into two great basin, Yucheng Basin and Xiyan Basin. The highest peak in the territory is Daliangshan, with an altitude of1874m. Hutuo River is the lowest, about 500 meters above sea level. Hulun River, the largest river in China, turns eastward after entering Dingxiang. Branches such as Longhua River and Wuhe River flow into the river from south to north. There are Wenhe River and its tributaries Xiushui River and Zhao Shanhe in the south of the county.
The total area is 2439 square kilometers. With a total population of 290,000 (in 2004), Xiushui Town is the seat of the county people's government. Yuxian county governs 8 towns and 6 townships: Xiushui Town, Sunjiazhuang Town, Lujiacun Town, Nanlou Town, Niucun Town, Dianchi Town, Shangshe Town, Xiyan Town, Ren Xian Town, Beixiazhuang Township, Xiashe Township, Liangjiazhai Township, Panqian Township and Liang Dong Township. * * * There are 453 administrative villages. Yuxian is located in the north, at the top of Taihang Mountain, with a temperate continental climate. Spring is dry and windy, summer is hot and hot, autumn is cool and rainy, winter is cold and snowy, and the four seasons are distinct. The annual average temperature is 8.7 degrees, 1 month -6.7 degrees, and it is 22.3 degrees in July. The annual average rainfall is 500-6 18 mm, and the frost-free period is about 150 days.
There is both zonal climate and obvious vertical variation. Mid-latitude area, not far from the sea, but due to the mountain barrier, the summer monsoon has little influence, belonging to warm temperate zone and temperate continental climate.
