IRI provides systematic solutions for online public opinion management and external publicity for nearly 20 national commissions, dozens of provinces and cities, central enterprises and state-owned enterprises. His public opinion analysis has been instructed by important leaders for nearly 70 times. He has undertaken a number of major research projects of the state and ministries, among which the National Social Science Fund (07&; ZD04 1), and established a national index system of online public opinion (IRI), and established a scientific and standardized working system of online public opinion scientific collection, analysis, judgment and early warning countermeasures through quantification and indexation for the first time in China, which initially solved the problems of omission, omission, concealment, false alarm and omission in previous public opinion identification. Its public opinion data has been quoted by authoritative media such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and CCTV for nearly 100 times, which fills the blank of online public opinion data collection in China.
Li Weining systematically and deeply analyzed the characteristics and formation rules of current online public opinion from the aspects of the changes of mobile Internet communication environment, the communication characteristics, hot spots and promotion layout of social media such as Weibo and WeChat, and the comparison between traditional media and social media.
Li Weining believes that social media has given everyone the ability to create and disseminate content, changed the past non-interactive forms of communication, and made information spread rapidly in a "strong relationship". As an important part of social media, Weibo and WeChat formed two public opinion fields, which had a strong impact on the influence of traditional media and caused major changes in the transmission path of major events.
