The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Ji 'an, 4 kilometers away from Heping Gate, Xi City, Shaanxi Province.
The Wild Goose Pagoda, formerly known as Ci 'en Temple Pagoda, is located in Jionji. Jionji was founded in the Sui Dynasty, formerly known as Wuliu Temple. In 647, Prince Li Zhi expanded the temple to commemorate his mother, Empress Wende, and renamed it Grand Jionji. There are pavilions, temples and meditation rooms in the temple, and there are ten courtyards in * * *, with a total of 1897 rooms. Famous painters include Yan, Wei Chiyi, Wu Daozi and Yi Lin. Used to draw pictures and make the walls shine. Shortly after the completion of the temple, Xuanzang, a famous monk at that time, moved here from Hongfu Temple to translate Buddhist scriptures, which lasted 19 years, translated 74 Buddhist scriptures, and founded the Buddhist Ci 'en Sect in this temple. Therefore, the temple is famous, and pilgrims gather and are very popular. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in Yonghui for three years (652). It was specially built by Li Zhi of Tang Gaozong to house the Buddhist scriptures that Xuanzang brought back from India. Unfortunately, the temples caught fire in the late Tang Dynasty, and all the temples were burned down. Only this tower survived, and now the buildings in the temple were rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
When the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was first built, it had five floors, with brick surface and soil core. Later, it collapsed and rebuilt ten floors. During the Chang 'an period of Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty (70 1-704), it was rebuilt into a pavilion-style blue brick tower with seven floors and a square plane, consisting of a tower foundation and a tower body. The side of the tower foundation is 48 meters long and 4.2 meters high, and the tower body is on it, with a side length of 25 meters and a height of 59.9 meters. The height of the tower foundation and tower body is 64. 1 m. Each wall of the tower is made of brick flat columns and wall frame, with a big barrel at the upper part of the column and a brick coupon door in the middle of each floor. The plane inside the tower is also square, and each floor has floors. An escalator is installed to spiral up to the top of the tower. In the Ming Dynasty, a thick layer of brick was laid outside the tower, and the brick was ground with cracks and was very strong.
On the south side of Taki, there are two famous monuments, Emperor Taizong and Tang Gaozong, both written by Chu Suiliang, a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, with delicate and natural fonts. On the west side of the lintel of Shimen, there are lines depicting architectural patterns and Buddha statues carved in the Tang Dynasty. The layout of the picture is rigorous, and the lines are thick and smooth. According to legend, it was written by Yan, a famous painter in the Tang Dynasty, and Wei Chiyi, a monk. It is an important material for studying ancient architecture in China.
Since the Tang Dynasty, every 14th, 15th and 16th day of the first month, traditional temple fairs, commonly known as "Yanta Temple Fair", have been held in Jeju, which is extremely prosperous. At the same time, it is also a place where literati will gather, and they will climb the tower to name their names. "Wild Goose Pagoda Title" has become something that scholars admire and yearn for. There is a stone engraved with the name of a Shaanxi juren in front of the tower, which has been more than 1000 years from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. In addition, literati often climb pagodas to recite poems. In the 11th year of Tang Tianbao (752), Du Fu and Cen Can boarded the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and Cen Can wrote: "The Wild Goose Pagoda rises abruptly from the ground and reaches the Heavenly Palace. When climbing the mountain, we seem to have left the world behind, and the pedals are empty. It is above a holy land and can only be built by spiritual hard work. Its four sides darken the bright sun, and its seven floors cut through the gray clouds. Birds fly out of our sight, and the wind is under our hearing. " Become a poet of past dynasties reciting famous sentences of Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
