How did the snowstorm plan end?

After the first flight of 1988, the funds for the snowstorm plan were on the verge of exhaustion: the research and development of the space shuttle system alone cost1300 million rubles, and the expenditure of the whole project exceeded 20 billion rubles. The Soviet authorities have gradually considered the relationship between the huge investment and benefits brought by the development of the space shuttle. The snowstorm plan accelerated the disintegration of the Soviet Union in a sense. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the old plan completely lost its economic support.

199 1 year, the Soviet military stopped its financial support for the plan. 1993, the Mania consortium, the designer of the fuselage of the space shuttle Blizzard, was forced to admit that the Blizzard project was over. They hope to turn to developing other small space equipment, but they have to give up because of lack of funds.

Since 1988, the space shuttle Blizzard has not flown in space, and the Mir space station can only use disposable spacecraft and the American space shuttle as round-trip tools. According to the original plan, the second space shuttle will make its first flight at 199 1, the third one will be built at 1992, and the first manned flight will be carried out at 1994- 1995. However, due to political and economic reasons, all this has not been realized. All space shuttles can only be stored in warehouses, with dusty and aging instruments. Two unfinished buildings were demolished in the mid-1990s.

In 2002, one of the space shuttles "Blizzard", together with the energy rocket, was destroyed by the collapse of the factory building in Baikonur. At this point, the snowstorm plan completely ended in a bleak way.
