How to be an admirable teacher

Be a respected teacher.

Yang Zhihui, No.1 Middle School, Changde City, Hunan Province

Dear teachers:

Good morning, entrusted by the principal's office, today I want to talk to you about the topic of "how to be a respected teacher". In order to encourage you, I don't mention any reports, but just communicate with you. I hope you will forgive me a lot.

Respect is respect. Since ancient times, teachers should be a respected profession. In my opinion, "being a teacher by example" itself is a kind of realm, and it is also a conscious and spontaneous behavior of being a teacher by example. Nowadays, people regard "teachers" as "engineers of human souls" and "the most glorious profession under the sun", which shows that society has a good expectation for teachers' profession. Today, how can we live up to expectations and be a respected teacher in this glorious century-old school? I want to talk about my feelings from four key words.

First, we should be indifferent to fame and fortune. I think indifferent to fame and fortune is the first step of noble character and achievement. President Tang asked students to "cultivate first-class virtue", not to mention the requirements for us as teachers. "First-class teachers' morality" has a very rich and profound connotation, and it is also the main theme of our construction of teachers' morality and style. I can't say anything new, but I just want to talk to you about my indifference to fame and fortune.

Recently, I have contacted more and more teaching colleagues from all over the world through various opportunities, and I feel more and more deeply that I am seriously behind the times. Many teachers are trying their best to make themselves rich first. They are well-connected, and they claim that a business is hundreds of thousands or even hundreds of thousands, which is worth my salary of teaching for many years. Those who have some savings at home, invest in facade, lend usury and earn kickbacks that are stronger than my salary; Have a glib tongue, do various experiments, sell "Amway" and "perfection" with the mouth of "turning straw into gold bars", and gradually upgrade from a direct seller to a part-time manager, and the sales income is far above the salary; Those who do their duty, don't forget the basics of teaching, it's really not as good as recruiting a few students, giving some subject guidance, earning some family money, or earning a little money.

But I have been thinking that if teachers all over the world become "the world is bustling, all for profit;" The world is bustling, and secular people are "in Cao Cao's heart and in Han Dynasty", pursuing fame and profit, so where are the masters we look up to?

I can't help thinking of Mr. Jiang Yang, who is 103 years old this year. She is a famous scholar, translator and writer, and also the wife of a generation of scholars Qian Zhongshu. She has been living alone in an old-fashioned room in Sanlihe, Beijing and living a very simple life. The furniture is from the 1970s, and this suite was given to them by Hu Qiaomu 1977 after the Cultural Revolution. Of course, as a cultural celebrity with works, there is no shortage of money. In September, 20001,according to the opinions discussed with Qian Zhongshu before his death, Jiang Yang set up a "good study scholarship" in Tsinghua University to reward those poor children who like to study, and handed over all the property rights of Yang Qian's works to the Tsinghua University Education Foundation. The scholarship fund has now reached nearly 10 million yuan! As always, Jiang Yang wrote "The Three of us", wrote "Going to the Edge of Life" in the style of torturing life, delivered a century-old speech with a indifferent attitude of "preparing to leave", and defended Qian Zhongshu's privacy heritage with full anxiety and indignation. This is Jiang Yang, who lives easily, and Jiang Yang, who lives nobly.

Of course, we can't be masters, we are just ordinary teachers, and we have the right to enjoy a better life. I once wrote an article for Changde Daily entitled "Cold Thinking about Paid Family Education", and publicly put forward the viewpoint of "being a conscientious paid family education". I think, as long as paid tutoring is reasonable and compliant, why not? Our school has clear regulations on paid tutoring behavior, which has been affirmed by the higher authorities. I hope everyone will stick to this bottom line forever. However, every time the democratic evaluation of teachers' morality and style, students reflect the behavior of paid tutoring. Last semester, some students reported that four teachers made up classes. If one day, your petty profits make parents and students start to despise you, then you may not be a respected teacher.

Second, be knowledgeable. There is no doubt that teachers are intellectuals. As teachers of a century-old prestigious school, everyone is knowledgeable. Why else do you stand firm here? However, here, I want to tell you about a master I have admired for a long time-Chen Yinque (que has a way of reading).

Chen Yinque was born in a famous family and studied abroad for more than ten years. He studied in famous universities in Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States and other countries. He has the ability to read more than a dozen languages and has learned the knowledge of "neither ancient nor modern, neither Chinese nor western". He is a scholar who combines literature, history and philosophy. Fu Sinian, a famous scholar and student leader of the May Fourth Movement, once commented on him: "Mr. Chen's knowledge has only been one person for nearly 300 years!" After returning to China, he was employed by Tsinghua University Sinology Institute and became one of the "Four Great Mentors in Tsinghua". Because of his profound knowledge, many famous professors from Peking University, such as Zhu Ziqing, Feng Youlan, Wu Mi and German sinologist Gang Hetai, listened to his lectures rain or shine and were praised as "professors".

Chen Yinque is well-read and has unique research and writings on religion, history, language, anthropology and collation. He dares to accept challenges and constantly update his knowledge, which is beyond the reach of ordinary professors and scholars. Legend has it that he once admitted that "four don't talk": "I won't say what my predecessors said; I don't say what the neighbors said; I don't say what foreigners have said; I said it myself in the past, and I won't say it. Now only talk about what no one has said. " Throughout the ages, let's think about it. The world is so big, how many people can do any of the "four don't talk"? If we are teachers, we can do any of them, and rare teachers are worth it, then are we respected?

Far away, I want to talk about the adult teachers around us. As we all know, Mr. Cheng Cheng is an influential teacher in our school. Last year, he was named the first batch of senior teachers in Hunan Province. He is a well-read and knowledgeable scholar, and I often walk with him to exchange my reading experience. As a well-known physics teacher, he and I talked most about Chinese studies and literature, Confucius, Laozi, Zhuangzi, the Book of Changes and even Buddhist scriptures. He read the essence, explained it in detail, and even recited it often. As a Chinese teacher, I can't help thinking. Can such a knowledgeable teacher not be respected?

Third, the image should be civilized. Teachers are messengers of spreading civilization. To make people civilized, we must be civilized first. The society has high expectations and strict requirements for teachers, and especially likes to talk about the profession of teachers. Teachers' improper words and deeds are often provoked by various media, causing social criticism and seriously damaging teachers' glorious image. Such a teacher must be out of respect.

Shakespeare once said, "What a great masterpiece, what a noble image, what elegant manners, what a beautiful musical instrument and what an angel." In a sense, teachers are ambassadors of human civilization and role models in students' minds. His words and deeds, his ideological system, his style of study, his values, outlook on life and world outlook should all conform to the norms of "sages". Therefore, teachers' social attributes are more than natural attributes. The socialization and publicity of teachers' roles inevitably require every teacher to clearly realize his social responsibility and play his role well.

Teacher's hairstyle, clothes, clothes, etc. There should be teachers' norms and characteristics, not arbitrary, solemn and generous, natural and decent; Teachers should speak sincerely and kindly, and the words should be mild and standardized, without exaggeration, and proper limit should be better; Teacher's standing posture, sitting posture, walking posture, etc. In the classroom, it is also required to show the temperament and demeanor of teachers; Teachers should not participate in unhealthy entertainment activities such as playing cards and gambling, and should also abide by the rules of not smoking in public places such as schools and not answering mobile phones in class ... Teachers' civilized image also has a lot of room for practice, which deserves our attention.

Miss Li is affectionately called "elegant sister" by students in our school, which may be students' sincere respect for the teacher. One hundred years ago, Zhejiang First Normal University had such a teacher. His teacher temperament makes students look up to: solemn appearance, good upbringing, decent manners, elegant speech and decent manners. Some people praised him as the last real aristocrat in China. His father is a famous salt merchant in Tianjin. He is very rich. He is a typical "rich second generation", rich but not arrogant. His father was a scholar who read a lot, enough to shelter future generations, and he became a typical "expensive second generation". He is a rare artistic genius in China, and has created 23 firsts in the art history of China. Liu Zhiping, Feng Zikai, Pan Tianshou, Li Hongliang and other famous artists were trained. He is Li Shutong, the Hony Master who later became a Legalist.

After returning from studying in Japan, Li Shutong came to Zhejiang two-level normal school (19 13 was renamed as Zhejiang No.1 Normal School) to teach painting and music. In the eyes of students in Zhejiang First Normal University, Mr. Li Shutong is "gentle and strict". Some students spit everywhere in music class, but Li Shutong didn't seem to notice it in class. After class, Li Shutong called the student and warned him in a relaxed and serious voice not to do it next time. With that, he bowed slightly to the students. Perhaps it is the attraction of this temperament, or the infection of this gentle education method. Many students sincerely love him, respect him and love his classroom, so they have a very strong interest in art, and there is a rare "art fever" in Zhejiang First Normal University.

Students have a strong interest in this subject because they love a teacher, and then establish their own development direction and even make achievements in this field. This is the charm of teachers. Who can disrespect such a teacher?

Fourth, I love my childhood life. In recent years, due to various reasons, the number of students in our school has declined seriously, and the number of high-quality students is limited. As a result, many teachers learn from Lu Xun's nine-catty old lady and lament that society is "worse than one generation" and students are "worse than one generation". Some teachers even bluntly say that students are stupid, as stupid as pigs and as stupid as donkeys. Speaking of it, this is a disrespect for students' personality. In fact, we don't have much advantage in front of students. We are just a professional prophet. Although we specialize in one subject, doing college entrance examination questions may not beat students.

There is a connotation that children are better than their own. We should treat students with appreciation, be more tolerant of their shortcomings, encourage students to jump up and pick peaches, and treat every child fairly and fairly. Our students are very different. They are not problem-solving machines. Some of them have poor grades, but they are kind-hearted, while others are quiet, but they are true. Some of them study well, but they are narrow-minded. Some of them are good at science and not good at liberal arts. Some of them are rich, but they are arrogant. Some of them are poor, but they can bear hardships and stand hard work ... Some teachers even look at students with power. Parents have power and influence, and when they deal with teachers more, their faces are full of happiness. Parents don't contact teachers, and students are dull and disgusted. Some teachers, corporal punishment and corporal punishment in disguised form, satirize students at will and ruin the good image of teachers. Where is there respect?

"Come for a great event and do a great event; Come with a heart and not a blade of grass. " This is the declaration that Tao Xingzhi, a famous educator, devoted his life to education.

From 65438 to 0939, Tao Xingzhi founded Yucai School in Chongqing, which was the most successful school established by Tao Xingzhi. Students are mainly poor children in nursery schools, and they don't charge tuition and living expenses, so the funds are very difficult. Someone asked Tao Xingzhi, "Why did you cross the river with a stone on your back?" Mr. Tao said, "My back is not a stone, but a lover." This spirit of "loving others" comes down in one continuous line with the traditional spirit of Confucius, that is, selfless love for students, great love for schools, education, working people and the Chinese nation.

Mr. Tao has four words: "Love the whole world". After the opening of Chongqing Yucai School, Tao Xingzhi remembered everything he saw in a temporary nursery in Hankou. There, he saw a child suffering from dysentery directing the children to sing, which showed his unique ability and was very clever. Ren Guang, who visited with Tao Xingzhi, immediately taught the children to sing the first words of his new song "Sorghum Red". Then he asked, "Who can write it down with music?" There was silence for a while. It was the boy with dysentery who raised his hand again. He accurately wrote the melodies of the two songs he just sang on the blackboard. Ren Guang was very surprised. Tao Xingzhi believes that there are indeed many gifted children among children with difficulties, but these seedlings lack sunshine and rain. The establishment of Yucai School is to select talented people for the nation, and select children with special talents from difficult children for special training.

Tao Xingzhi found that the difficult child with dysentery and musical talent was not selected, so he found the teacher in charge of enrollment, introduced him to the characteristics of this difficult child, and asked to find him anyway. Later, the enrollment teacher inquired about it and learned that the child was Chen Yixin, who was in a nursery school in Datianba. It turned out that when Yucai School enrolled students, Chen Yixin was suffering from malaria, so he missed the opportunity. When Tao Xingzhi learned of this situation, he immediately wrote to the president of the hospital and asked him to send someone to send this difficult child to Yucai School. The dean sent a teacher to take Chen Yixin over the snow-capped mountains in Jin Jian, across the Jialing River, through Beibei to Beiquan, and was escorted to Gusheng Temple by the teachers of Yucai School. Tao Xingzhi was very happy to see him, arranged for him to study in the music group, and wrote to Singaporean composer Ren Guang: "We have already greeted the bald man you enjoyed in Hankou."

Growing up, Chen Yixin was depressed because of dysentery. Tao Xingzhi's eyes were anxious and he had been treated by a dermatologist, but the effect was not obvious. Later, Tao Xingzhi heard that there was a doctor Liu who was good at treating this disease in Rongchang County, more than 100 miles away from Chongqing, so he asked General Feng Yuxiang to invite Dr. Liu to the school to treat Chen Yixin. During the treatment, Tao Xingzhi came to the school to personally cook medicine for Chen Yixin. Under the careful care and care of Tao Xingzhi, Chen Yixin's bald head finally covered with black hair and became a handsome boy with tall figure, smart eyes, self-confidence and musical talent. Later, Chen Yixin grew up to be the dean of the Central Conservatory of Music and a well-known musician in China.

Tao Xingzhi is a famous educator and left many educational stories. This story makes us understand Tao Xingzhi's love for life. If we can love life so much, who doesn't respect us?

Being a respected teacher is a high-level pursuit and one of the directions for all of us to work hard. These keywords I said are only the superficial part, and they are all leaked. Of course, teachers should be respected, but also have noble moral character, profound thoughts, superb teaching skills, broad mind, sincere personality and so on. It takes more than a few minutes to speak clearly and clearly. Besides, it's easier said than done. It may seem a bit inappropriate to say these words. I just want to work hard with everyone to be a respected teacher.

Thank you for your time.
