CET-4, the abbreviation of CET-4, is a national English test sponsored by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. The main target of the examination is college students, undergraduates or graduate students who have completed CET-4 according to the educational syllabus. Standardized grades 4 and 6 were prepared at the end of 1986 and formally implemented at 1987.
The purpose of CET-4 is to promote the implementation of college English syllabus, measure college students' English ability objectively and accurately, and serve to improve the teaching quality of college English courses in China. The Ministry of Education entrusts the National College English Band 4 and Band 6 Examination Committee (1993 named "College English Band 4 and Band 6 Standardized Examination Design Group") to design, organize, manage and implement the College English Band 4 and Band 6 Examination.
According to the two college English syllabuses used by science and engineering undergraduates and liberal arts undergraduates, the college English test is divided into four levels and six levels, which are organized and implemented by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education (formerly the State Education Commission).
After the annual examination, the results will be announced in August or September, and the transcripts will be distributed. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, there is no passing line in CET-4 and CET-6, and you can apply for CET-6 if you score above 425. Therefore, it is generally believed that the passing line of CET-4 and CET-6 is 425. The scores of CET-4 and CET-6 are ranking scores, and there is no total score. The examination paper structure of CET-4;
As far as the language ability is concerned, the CET-4 in the pilot stage consists of the following four parts: 1. Listening comprehension; 2. Reading comprehension; 3. Writing and translation.
Listening comprehension includes 7% news, 8% dialogue and 20% text.
Reading comprehension accounts for 35%; Among them, deep reading accounts for 25%, skimming and scanning account for 10%. The close reading part is divided into: a. Reading comprehension of selected topics; B. vocabulary understanding (cloze) or short answer questions at the text level. The fast reading comprehension section tests the ability to browse and search.
Writing and translation account for 30%; In which writing 15% and translation 15%. The genre of writing includes argumentative writing, expository writing and practical writing. The translation part tests the Chinese-English translation ability at the level of sentences, phrases or common words.
Grades are divided into total grades and individual grades. Individual items include: 1. Listening, 2. Reading, 3. Translation and writing.
