The latest research results of computer network application technology

Xinhuanet London, September 17 (Reporter Huang Kun) Researchers from the University of Bristol and other institutions in the United Kingdom reported the new progress in the field of quantum computer research in the new issue of American Science magazine. Professor Jeremy O 'Brien, who led the research, believes that this progress may lead to the advent of quantum computers within 10 years. The team led by Professor O 'Brien consists of researchers from Britain, Japan, Israel and the Netherlands. They successfully developed a silicon chip for quantum computing, and made two identical photons pass through the optical network recorded on the silicon chip, realizing a physical process called "quantum walking". In the past, people only realized the quantum walking of one photon, but this study realized the quantum walking of two photons for the first time. Professor O 'Brien said that it is a huge leap from single photon to two photons. Every time a photon is added, the complexity of the problem that a quantum computer can solve increases exponentially. For example, the quantum walk of a single photon can bring 10 results, and the quantum walk of two photons can bring 100 results.
